Important safety instructions

When using your equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, including the following:

  1. Adult setup is required.
  2. Do not place this product on unstable shelves, stands, tables or other surfaces.
  3. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product.
  4. The product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, extension or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  5. Do not use the motion extension ringer in the following areas that may cause deformation, malfunction, or operational failure:
  • under direct sunlight;
  • areas exposed to grease or steam, such as kitchens;
  • near fire or heating devices;
  • areas subject to extreme temperature changes, such as next to air conditioners;
  • areas with IR-opaque or reflective objects that can block IR energy that are needed for detection;
  • areas where the temperature is affected by strong illuminating objects (such as halogen lights).

Battery


  • Use only the battery indicated in this manual. There may be a risk of explosion if a wrong type of battery is used for the extension ringer unit.
  • Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. Check with local waste management codes for special disposal instructions.
  • Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause burns or injury to the eyes or skin. The electrolyte may be toxic if swallowed.
  • Exercise care in handling battery in order not to create a short circuit with conductive materials.

What's in the box

Your product package contains the following items. Save your sales receipt and original packaging in the event warranty service is necessary.

SOS pendant overview

SOS pendant overview - Part 1

  1. LED (red)
  • Steadily on when receiving an emergency.
  • Flashes during registration.
  • Flashes slowly when the SOS pendant is out of range.
  1. Main key ()
  • Press to enter emergency call mode.

SOS pendant overview - Part 2

  1. Sub key (CANCEL)
  • Press to cancel emergency call mode.
  • Press and hold to enter the registration mode.
  1. Screw
  • Unscrew it to open the back cabinet.
  • Tighten it to close the back cabinet.

Before use

Add and register an SOS pendant
Add your new VS015 extension ringer to your telephone base. Each new SOS pendant must be registered with the telephone base before use.

Register an SOS pendant:

  1. Make sure the SOS pendant is powered on with battery before registering it to the telephone base.
  2. Place your telephone base into pairing mode as per the instructions in your telephone user guide.
  3. Press and hold the CANCEL button (sub key) on the back of the SOS pendant until the red LED light flashes. The SOS pendant is now registering to the telephone base.

Replace battery
The battery is pre-installed in your VS015 SOS pendant. However, when the battery is low, you will need to replace it with a new battery.

  1. Unscrew the screw on the back cabinet to open it.

  2. Flip open the battery compartment cover and take out the old battery.

  3. Insert new battery into battery compartment, and matching the polarity markings (+ and -) inside it.

  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

  5. Close the battery compartment cover.

  • Because of the waterproof function, please make sure the back cabinet is not deformed during or after replacement.

Replacing an SOS pendant
If you have purchased this new VS015 accessory SOS pendant to replace an old SOS pendant, you must deregister the registered SOS pendant first, and then register this new SOS pendant to your telephone base.

Deregister an SOS pendant or all SOS pendants:

  • Refer to the User's manual of your telephone system to deregister an SOS pendant or all SOS pendants.

Installation options

After the registration is complete, you can press the main key to start an emergency call.
We recommend you install the SOS pendant in places where it is easy-to-reach and an emergency situation is likely to occur, for example, bedside, dressing room, bathroom, and toilet.
Make sure the SOS pendant is not far away from the 17450 telephone base to which it is registered. The connection signal strength is dependent on the distance to the telephone base unit.

General product care

Taking care of your SOS pendant
Your SOS pendant contains sophisticated electronic and optical parts, so it must be treated with care.

Avoid rough treatment
Place the SOS pendant down gently. Save the original packing materials to protect your SOS pendant if you ever need to ship it.

Avoid water
Your SOS pendant can be damaged if it gets wet. Do not use the SOS pendant outdoors in the rain, or handle it with wet hands. Do not install the SOS pendant near a sink, bathtub or shower.

Electrical storms
Electrical storms can sometimes cause power surges harmful to electronic equipment. For your own safety, take caution when using electrical appliances during storms.

Cleaning your SOS pendant
Your SOS pendant has a durable plastic casing that should retain its luster for many years. Clean it only with a dry non-abrasive cloth. Do not use dampened cloth or cleaning solvents of any kind.

Storage

When you are not going to use the SOS pendant for some time, remove the battery from the SOS pendant. Store the SOS pendant in a cool and dry place.

Frequently asked questions

Below are the questions most frequently asked about the SOS pendant.

The SOS pendant doesn't work with the telephone system equipment.
  • Make sure the AAA alkaline batteries are installed.
  • The SOS pendant may be deregistered from your telephone system. Refer to Add and register an SOS pendant and register the SOS pendant back.
  • The SOS pendant may be out of range. Move the SOS pendant closer to your telephone system.
  • If the previous suggestions do not work, deregister all devices and register them to the telephone base again.
