Field Installation Guide for RFMAX "Meter-Max" Antenna, magnetic mount and coaxial connector.
*Always begin by powering down your mobile data collector/vehicle gateway base station*
1. Place the RFMAX magnetic antenna mount in the center of your vehicle roof. (Note: If your vehicle has an aluminum
body, then use an RFMAX adhesive steel mounting plate, part # RASP4x4)
2. Secure the RFMAX "Meter-Max" antenna to the magnetic mount by properly seating it on the threads and turning
clockwise until the base of the antenna is secured tightly against the magnetic mount.
3. Route the coaxial cable from the roof through a bulkhead gland in the vehicle body or through a window or door into
the vehicle cabin.
4. Use the coaxial connector chart to identify which connection you require for mobile data collector/vehicle gateway
base station. See chart below.
Pay attention to the center pin – they can be confusing!
5. Take the proper coaxial adapter and install it on your mobile data collector/vehicle gateway base station and hand-
tighten.
6. Connect the coaxial cable to your mobile data collector/vehicle gateway base station via the coaxial adapter and
hand-tighten.
7. Power up your mobile data collector/vehicle gateway base station and hand-tighten.
8. Start your drive-by collection with the additional power and ruggedness of your Meter-Max!!!
