THE BASICS This chapter explains the basic functionality of your music center. Some details are intentionally omitted to keep these sections simple. The next chapters go more into detail. 2.1.8 Analog recording The version number of the system software and the serial number can be ac- cessed here. You need it for the registration of your music center. Your music center can digitize and import sound from analogue sources, like You can see the available space, the number of stored songs, how many turntables, tape recorders, or cassette decks.
This shows that the music center is still encoding the fi les of the fi rst CD. Dur- ing this operation, the handling of the music center may be not as quick and smooth as usual. After inserting a music CD its title is shown as the topmost entry of the main menu.
Burning a music CD Choose an album or collect some songs into a playlist. Select the album or the playlist and press the Record button (7). The music center adds up the length of the songs and warns you if the total playing time exceeds the capacity of resp.
ADVANCED FUNCTIONS Animated The music center accesses the network, e.g. an iTunes server. This chapter discusses advanced options of the music center and shows their benefi ts using step-by-step explanations. Steady The iPod icon is shown in place of the music centerʼs icon: an iPod is connected to the music center and has Playlists been selected.
You can use the function keys 2 “Up” and 3 “Down” to rearrange the position of songs inside a playlist. Function key 4 “More...” reveals the second part of the options, including deleting and adding songs. 3.1.2 Renaming or deleting an existing playlist You may rename or delete an existing playlist any time by selecting it from the list and using the appropriate function keys.

The song, artist, and album information can be changed by you at any time. Changing a music genre can be done by selecting from the given list or you can add your own genres by pressing function key 3 “New”. If the searchlist shows no entries the music center contains no songs matching your criteria.

Internet Radio If you plan to use this feature we recommend that you have an Internet access tariff based on a fl at rate. Connecting an MP3 player The USB ports (22) on the back of your music center can be used for connect- ing an MP3 player. Then you can play the songs of the MP3 player via the music center and may edit meta data and playlists. After an MP3 player is plugged into the music center it is handled like a music CD and appears with its own name as a new entry in the main menu.
To prepare for a worst-case scenario we highly recommend backing up the imported data to an external device. Connect an external Olive hard disk to one of the USB ports (22) on the back of the music center and save all or a selection of your songs to this backup de- vice.
SETTINGS This main menu option provides you with numerous settings to adapt the music center to your needs and tastes. Play mode Options for the behaviour of the music center while playing songs.
