- Page 6 USING THE COOLER You will find more detailed instructions on each of these steps in the sections that follow. Fill the water tank. Power the unit on. Select a function/fan speed. - Page 8 CARE & MAINTENANCE To disassemble and clean your evaporative cooler, follow these steps: To clean the cooling pads and dust filters: Unplug the unit. Unscrew and remove the side grilles, to which the dust filters are attached, and then pull the cooling pad toward you away from the unit.
