PACKING WITH A CHILD Know your physical abilities and limitations. Make sure that you are in the proper physical condition for walking while carrying a child in a backpack. -

SAFETY RESTRICTIONS TO QUALIFY AS A PASSENGER: MINIMUM age 6 mos. and MAXIMUM weight 45 lbs. Your child must be able to sit upright (usually at 6 months of age), and be strong enough to hold up their head. One adult can transfer the child (in the pack) onto another person, and easily adjust the pack to their height.
