It is absolutely mandatory that these operating instructions be read and understood prior to the vacuum group installation and start up. The GEV vacuum groups have been manufactured according to the newest technical standards and safety regulations as per “Machines directives 2006/42/ CE” and additions.

ASSISTANCE If you send a pump to General Europe Vacuum indicates whether the pump is free of substances damaging the health or whether it is contaminated. If contaminated, indicate the nature of hazard. Warning The pump must be packed in a way that will not be damaged during shipping and that no harmful substances can escape from the package.

The presence inside the vacuum group of moving parts leades to the evaluation of the possible mechanical risks due to the same parts. For this reason, GEV has equipped all their machine with protective casing firmily screwed on pumps and fit for protecting dealing with the pumps. It is recomended to provide for skilled personnel.
Description Operating principle : GEV vacuum groups GP+GP or GPx2 are assembled with two or more oil-sealed rotary vanes vacuum pumps, single stage, type GP. Each vacuum group is calculated and manufactured in order to work with one vacuum pump with technical datas enough for the vacuum application. A second pump, installed in stand by, will start-up whenever the vacuum level won’t be keep with just one...

General Europe Vacuum recommends its special oil “TYPE G 880” to allow vacuum pump works properly If you use a non-approved oil, GEV cannot guarantee that the pumps will meet their operating specifications ( ultimate pressure, pumping speed, operating temperature etc. ) However the warranty is voided only if a non-approved oil adversely affects the operation and reliability of the pump.
The standard vacuum pump does not fit for being installed in explosion and hazard areas. Take contact with GEV if you are planning to install it in such areas. Before installing pump, or in case of maintenance, disconnect it from the electric mains to prevent the pump from running up suddently.
B.2.2 Exhaust side The vacuum pumps type GP are equipped in exhaust by one or more oil remover cartridges (according to the pump size) having a filtration in the range of 0,01 micron. When the oil remover cartridges are clogged, smokes in exhaust is visible, the pump temperature and the absorbed power gets increased and it may happen that the motor thermal protection switches on.
Page 11
Warning If any motor or electric switch cuts the pump out. Re-start up of the pump can be carried out only manualy. After having carefully checked the stopping reason. Vacuum group can start up also when suction is already under vacuum. After connecting motor and every time you alter the wiring, check motor rotation direction, check the arrow shown on motor lable.During check, suction must be open.
Page 12
The differential of pressure could be changed, from 1 to 10, as you can see opening the instrument. GEV suggests to put it around 3-4, with value of 120-150mmHg.
Pump stop GP vacuum pumps are equipped in suction by an anti-suckback valve closing the suction when vacuum pump is off keeping vacuum steady in all the connected appliances thus avoiding the flush back of oil into the appliance same. Therefore, under normal circumstances, pump stops after disconnection to mains.
Maintenance schedule The maintenance schedule stated in the maintenance sheet underneath are approximate values for a normal function of the group. Difficult environmental conditions and/or aggressive gases can increase significally the maintenance interventions. CHECK AND MAINTENANCE FREQUENCY Oil level check Daily Oil conditions check Depending upon process...
Oil change Oil must be changed according to the following chart : VACUUM PUMPS MOD. GP – GPM 11 or 21 200 hours running Or every 1 / 2 months GP – GPM 45-65-100 500 hours running Or every 3 / 4 months GP –...

Electric motor disassemblig WARNING Check that motor cannot start and the electric main is off For disassembling the electric motor unscrew the three screws which are coupling pump to turret. Pull out the joint with fun from the motor’ shaft Unscrew the 4 fixing screws from motor turret After check out and replacement of the electric motor, reassemble all operating inversaly Beware...
VACUUM SWITCH D.1 Regulation Open and close the valve (pos.5) up the Vacuum switch code no. 62007. If rotate it, the switching vacuum level change (check the value thru the glass). Remove the mask and change from 1 to 10 the wheel (pos.19).
