Description:

The rinLINK provides an optical serial connection onto the front of an indicator and a USB
connection to your computer.

Driver Installation:

When using a USB rinLINK for the first time on a PC, the driver will have to be loaded. The driver is
located in https://www.rinstrum.com/support/general-reference/
Connect the USB end of rinLINK to PC and optical head to unit for connection.
The serial connection can now be used to:

Reflash the unit with new firmware (refer to manual R000-613)

Provide a connection to the PC running Viewer (refer to R000-612 Viewer Manual) for quick
indicator configuration – both rinLINK and Viewer software is in the download section

Driver Support:

The current rinLINK drivers will support the following Windows operating systems both 32bit and
64bit:
• Windows XP SP2 and above
• Windows Vista
• Windows 7
• Windows 8 and 8.1
• Windows 10
• Windows 11

Note for Windows 11

Existing rinLINK cables with Windows 11
To use a rinLINK cable (pre-2023) with no white dot with Windows 11, an older driver must be used
that is not aware of Windows 11.

To resolve this, please follow the original instructions and re-install the older driver.
