Passive infrared motion detector with a 110° area of coverage for home use – built-in installation
The build-in passive IR motion detector (PIR) for indoor rooms is a completely automatic system for controlling the lighting installation (see the table with technical details for the option to adjust the system's power).
At night and in dark rooms, the motion detector turns on the connected lighting system immediately upon detecting motion in the area it covers. During the day and in rooms with enough natural light, the lighting sensor makes it possible to conserve electric energy. By acting on the lighting regulator (LUX), it determines the level of brightness at which the lighting installation should turn on. The adjustable timer (TIME) is used to determine how long the lighting should be turned on.
An important feature of the passive IR detector is the option of smart control of the "zero crossing" relay that optimises the loading rate and extends the service life of the relay.

Installing and connecting the devices to the power supply should only be performed by technically qualified personnel in accordance with existing technical provisions and applicable legislation.
- Check if the load of the lighting that will be connected exceeds the value specified in the technical details.
- The detector is suitable only for installation in indoor rooms.
- Install it at least 1 meter from the light source it controls (e.g. a lamp) and do not install the PIR sensor facing the direction of direct sunlight.
- Do not install the detector facing the direction of reflective surfaces or the direction of openings for heating systems, air conditioning devices or other devices that cause sudden changes in temperature, because this can cause undesirable activation of the detector.
- Do not set up any barriers (flower pots, books, framed photos, a radio, etc.) between the detector and the area covered by its sensor.
- The detector is not suitable for connecting to anti-burglary devices, because it does not have the suitable anti-sabotage fittings.
- Do not install the detector together with other built-in devices if these can cause over-heating.
- Before installation, take into account that the detector is more sensitive to motion within the area of detection (image 3A) and less sensitive to motion in the direction towards the detector (image 3B).
We advise you to carefully read these installation and operation instructions and keep them at hand as a manual. The manufacturer reserves the right to implement all required technical and structural changes without the requirement for giving advanced notice.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
![TEM - EM31 - Installation - Step 1 Installation - Step 1]()
![TEM - EM31 - Installation - Step 2 Installation - Step 2]()
Before installation, take into account the appropriate height for installation and the area of coverage shown in image 4A.
- Connect the detector as show in the basic electrical diagrams (images 4B and 4C). The supply circuit of the device must be protected with a surge protector in the event of overload (or with an automatic switch with nominal value of the electric current that does not exceed 10 A).
If you wish to also use the manual turn-off operation mode, a wall switch should be installed in front of the detector as show in images 4B and 4C – (*).
FRONT OF THE SWITCH
![TEM - EM31 - Front View Front View]()
- LED indicating the relay status:
- blinking = the switch is warming up or operating in the manual turn-off mode
- constant turning on = the switch is in automatic mode
- Lens
- Regulation of the LUX brightness threshold
- Regulation of duration
- Test position
SETUP (testing and calibrating the device)
After correctly installing the detector:
- Carefully rotate the brightness regulator (LUX) clockwise until it stops. Turn the duration regulator (TIME) counter clockwise until it stops (TEST position – see image 5, position 5).
- Turn on the power supply, for example on the wall switch.
- The connected device (e.g. a lamp) turns on in approximately 60 seconds (warm-up time) and then turns off automatically.
- Walk in the area of detection: the light turns on when you move and turns off with a delay when you stand still.
SETTING UP THE LIGHTING DURATION (time)
![TEM - EM31 - Setting up the Lighting Duration Setting up the Lighting Duration]()
- The set duration (TIME) determines how long the light should stay on after detecting motion. Turn the TIME regulator clockwise if you wish to extend the time of the light's duration (up to approximately 12 minutes) or counter clockwise if you wish to shorten the time of the light's duration (up to approximately 5 seconds).
SETTING UP THE BRIGHTNESS (Lux)
![TEM - EM31 - Setting up the Brightness Setting up the Brightness]()
- LUX regulation, which determines the level of brightness at which the lighting installation turns on upon detecting motion, can be set under AUTOMATIC OPERATION. To set the time of operation, turn the LUX regulator counter clockwise until it stops (the moon symbol). Thus, the motion detector will be inactive during daylight. For twilight, namely the moment it reaches the level of brightness at which you want the lighting to turn on, slowly turn the LUX regulator counter clockwise until the light turns on.
OPERATION MODES
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
When the detector detects motion, the light it is connected to turns on automatically if the brightness level in the room is lower than the brightness level that is set on the LUX regulator; it remains on for the duration that was set with the TIME duration regulator.
Note: the regulator operates according to the "re-trigger" principle, namely if during the time it is activated the PIR sensor once again detects motion, the time of the duration resets and once again starts counting down from the set time of duration. If you connect your motion detector to the wall switch, you can simply select MANUAL TURN-OFF or once again select AUTOMATIC OPERATION.
MANUAL TURN-OFF
If you wish that the light that is connected to the detector operates independently of motion, automatic operation can be turned off: turn off and on the wall switch twice within an interval of 4 seconds (the time interval between turning the switch off and on again must be between 0.5 and 2 seconds).
When the MANUAL TURN-OFF function is active, the light shall remain on for almost 6 hours, even if the sensor detects no motion. If the function is turned off, the lighting control returns to automatic operation.
Users can once again set the operation mode of the motion detector to automatic (before the 6 hours run out) by turning off the wall switch for approximately 2 seconds and turning it on again.
DISPOSAL AT THE END OF SERVICE LIFE
The product should not be disposed of together with household waste. Quite the opposite, it must be taken to a suitable waste dump intended for recycling electrical and electronic devices, such as:
- the point of sale where you bought the product similar to the one you are trying to dispose of;
- local waste collection locations (centres for waste collection, local recycling centres, etc.).
By ensuring that the product has been appropriately disposed of, you are preventing any negative impact on the environment and health that inappropriate disposal of the product could cause.
By recycling the materials, you are enabling the preservation of natural resources. For detailed information on the recycling of this product, contact your local service or a local company for collecting household waste or the store where the product was purchased.
