Spectra Premium FPW3 Technical Notice

NEW FUEL PUMP CONNECTOR INSTALLATION

The fuel pump you have purchased is equipped with a new design improved connector. Included in the packaging
you will find the replacement harness connector. This harness connector improves the electrical contact to the pump
and fuel sending unit. The following instructions will guide you through the replacement procedures. Neglecting these
procedures will cause fuel pump or fuel level sender failure and warranty will be denied.
Old style connector (rear view)

Installation procedures

• Cut the wires one at a time at a minimum of 1 in. or 25.4 mm from the old style connector.
• Strip the wire approximately ¼ in. or 7 mm.
• Insert the heat shrink tube over the wire.
• Observe the diagram above to match the wire to the proper position on the new style connector.
(Remember that the connector view is from the back, wiring side)
• Crimp the wire with the butt splice.
• Place the heat shrink tube over the butt splice and heat the shrink tube
using a heat gun. (Do not use an open flame near the fuel tank)
