    General information The E8718A Radar Target Simulator (RTS) is provided with a protective earth terminal. The protective features of the E8718A may be impaired if it is used in a manner not specified in the operating instructions. DO NOT OPERATE IN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE. Do not operate the WARNING E8718A in the presence of flammable gases or flames.

    The RTS provides a simulation of distance, object size, and speed, accurately and dynamically. In the design verification environment, the E8718A SFP utilizes a simple interface, whereby you may set the required simulation value. Once the setting is complete, all you need to do is trigger the test and provide a frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) signal from the automotive radar sensor.

    System Software and User Application Fixed Range Registration This registration is only applicable for the fixed range license option. E8718A only runs simulation with the registered fixed range values. For example, 3 fixed range licenses allow you to register any 3 fixed range values within the 4 m to 300 m range.

    Follow the steps below to verify the basic operations of the E8718A: 1 Connect a power cord to the AC power inlet at the rear of the E8718A. 2 Switch on the power switch. You may apply 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz AC single phase (300 W maximum).
