Introduction

The dry box protects your electronic devices from moisture, keeping a low level of humidity to prevent the growing of fungus. This is especially important for devices such as camera, camera lens and musical instruments.

UNDERSTANDING THE PRODUCT

START USING THE DRY BOX

1. Silicon gel (Sold separately)
   Place the silicon gel either on the inner tray or the main body of the dry box to control the humidity level.
2. Hygrometer (Analogue)
   Please make sure that the reading for the dry box follows the requirements to achieve the ideal humidity or the items you will be storing.
   Please refer below for the ideal humidity.

Storage reference (Relative Humidity, RH)

20% ≤ - Experimental equipments, special materials, special sensors or storage.

20 – 30% - Phosphor, pollen, seeds, specimens, pharmaceutical raw materials, paint of plastic pellets.

30 – 40% - Precision instruments, measuring tools, precious metals, Chinese herbal medicine, semiconductor or electronic components.

40 – 50% - Camera, lens, video camera, projector, telescope, infrared night vision or gastro copy.

50 – 60% - Calligraphy and painting, paper money, stamp, artwork, fax paper, clothes or wooden musical instrument.

CONDITIONS RESULTING IN MILDEW: PROBLEMS AND PREVENTION

1. Conditions resulting in mildew
   Mildew usually grows at a humidity of 55% RH.
   It grows even faster when the humidity hits above 55% RH. Mildew is most active when humidity reaches above 65% RH, which causes great damage to your valuables.

2. Problems

• Reduces the accuracy of your camera's mechanical operating system, causing a malfunction and even damage to your camera.
• If the lens or viewfinder gets mouldy, the image quality will be badly affected and what's worse, the camera imaging system will be badly damaged.
• The camera's internal circuitry will also be damaged due to severe mold, causing malfunction.
• Some storage medium will be damaged when moldy, such as hard disk, CD disk, film, memory card, etc.

3. Prevention

• Control the relative humidity (RH) of the storage environment is the most efficient way to avoid damage to your valuables by mildew.
