Assembly Introduction Solaris Systems Inc is a hydroponic/aeroponic systems company whose goal is to make it easy for anyone to grow lettuce, herbs and other crops. The combination of the BioDome seed starter with the Garden Carousel enables you to always have something ready when harvesting full plants. With this system you will have your own personal “Farm-to-Table” food source. Since you are growing indoors you will not have to contend with insects, pests, pesticides, sprays, dirt, weather, fungus, rain, cold weather and all the other things that can afflict your plants in an outside garden. You can pick your lettuce or herbs for supper just a few minutes before you are ready to eat. That is the definition of fresh and you will most certainly notice the taste difference compared to similar items purchased from a grocery store. Choosing Your Garden Carousel Location Your plants will be like babies who need feeding and care, so it is best to place your Garden Carousel in a location where you will normally pass by it several times a day. This will make it easier to check on your plants, rotate them so that they get even amounts of light, and check that the drippers are not clogged by algae or other organic debris. As there is running water in your system, placing the system on a tile or concrete floor is ideal. If placed on a carpet floor, you may want to use a 24” x 36” boot ...
Assembly For leafy vegetables and herbs, the LED grow lights provide all the light your plants will need. However, a sunny location is recommended if you want your plants to flower. The Garden Carousel has a footprint of 21” x 21”, which is only 3 square feet. The 36 plant system is 61" high, the LED stand is 71" high. Your Garden Carousel can be placed in a corner because the plant holder rests on a turntable. This means that you only need access to the front of the system for planting and harvesting. It is good practice to rotate the plant holder a couple of inches at least once a day to even out the amount of light each plant receives, making sure the rotation still puts all the plants under the drippers. Powering the Garden Carousel Your system requires only one plug of a standard wall outlet because a “Y” power cable and a 6 foot extension cord are included. One plug of the Y cord is used for the timer that controls the LED lights and the other plug for the water pump. The pump runs continuously, 24/7, which is essential to keep your plants alive and healthy. ⚠ Do NOT use a power strip if your closest outlet is too far to reach with the Y power cable. Power strips, with their open sockets, are an electrical hazard near a water source. Rather, use the provided 6 foot extension cord, if your Garden Carousel is more than a few ...

Assembly Optimum Light Schedule Most people set their light timer to leave the lights on for 14 hours a day for faster plant growth cycles, typically from 6 am until 8 pm. One thing that is important to know is that all plants need dark hours for respiration. It is not useful to leave the LED lights on for more than 14 hours a day because the lack of dark time will slow the plants’ growth. Set the timer to your desired light cycle if it is different from the default settings. The mechanical timer comes preset to ON at 6 am and OFF at 8 pm, but be sure to set the timer to the current time when you plug it in since the clock only runs when the timer has a power source. The timer has no back-up battery so it will need to be reset if you lose power or unplug it. Plug the timer into one outlet of the “Y“ power cord. Plug the LED lights into the timer, not to the other end of the Y power cord. This enables you to control when the LED lights turn on and off. All four LED lights should come on when you plug their power cord into the timer. If one or all of them do not turn on, check to see if the timer is set for “on” at the time you are testing. Also check the plug connections to the LED lights to make sure they are firmly in the sockets. Remember, the pump should NOT be attached to an on/off switch of any kind because the pump needs to operate continuously to keep the plants’ roots from drying out. The BioSponges hold enough moisture to keep the roots moist for about 30 minutes, but no longer than that before the plants will start to wilt. 11 ...
Assembly Testing the Water Flow Once you've added water to the reservoir (see the Preparing the Water chapter in the Grow Guide), plug in the pump to the other Y cable socket and watch to see that water is coming out of all 8 drippers a steady rate. If some of the drippers have a steady stream but some other drippers have little to no water coming out, first close the valve(s) on the drippers with the fastest rate until they have slowed down. This will allow a more even pressure distribution. Next, open the valves on the slow drippers until they are all somewhat equal. Your plants will do fine with a wide range of water flow rates so do not be concerned if some drippers are dripping faster than others. Once you've verified that all eight drippers are functioning, make sure that all eight endpoints of the bottom planters are getting water flow as well. This ensures that the planters and plant holders are in the proper position and that every plant will get the water it needs. 12 ...
