    5.10 Clearing Jams If the rotor stalls, stop rotor motion, raise slightly and try again. If still stalled, lower unit so teeth tips dig slightly into sod, a log or stump. Reverse hydraulic flow to mulcher. Reversing the flow does not power the rotor in the reverse direction, it only opens the hydraulic lock on the rotor.

    6. Routine Maintenance 6.1 Inspections WARNING Prevent serious injury or death caused by unexpected movement: Park skidsteer on a level surface. Engage skidsteer park brake. Disengage hydraulic drive. Shut off engine and remove key. WARNING Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products can expose you to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer.

    6.2 Check Belt Tension Lower mulcher to ground. Set parking brake, stop engine and remove key. WARNING Moving parts can crush and cut. Keep clear of moving components. Follow lockout procedure before servicing. Remove inspection cover (A). Inspect belt (B) for wear, damage, alignment and proper tension.

    6.3 Replace Belt Belt deflection (I) should be 0.5 in. (13 mm) at 4.25 lbs of force. Lower mulcher to ground. Adjust tension with bolts (C) and tighten mounting Set parking brake, stop engine and remove key. bolts (B). Install inspection cover (A). Do not operate mulcher WARNING with cover (A) removed.

    6.4 Replace Cutting Teeth Park skidsteer and mulcher on a level surface. Lower mulcher to the ground. Shut off engine and remove key. WARNING Moving parts can crush and cut. Keep clear of moving components. Follow lockout procedure before servicing. 1100 Series Teeth Inspect cutting teeth (A) for damage and wear.
  • Page 23: Zero Leak Case Drain Relief Valve

    6.5 Zero Leak Case Drain Relief Valve The mulcher is equipped with a case drain line that is to be routed to the skidsteer hydraulic reservoir. It is normal for a hydraulic motor to have a slight amount of internal leakage. The case drain line will allow this internal leakage to be returned to the reservoir, preventing excessive pressure on the motor seal.

    6.6 Lubricate Rotor Bearings The bearings are factory lubricated with a lithium or lithium complex base grease which is suitable for most applications. Select a grease that is compatible with a lithium or lithium complex grease. The bearings should contain as much grease as speed will permit.

    7. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Probable Cause Solution Rotor does not spin. Check drive belt. Replace belt if damaged or broken. Rotor jammed. Remove material from rotor. See Clearing Jams. Low oil level. Check oil level in skidsteer. Add if necessary. Low oil flow. Check flow control on skidsteer.

    8. STORAGE 8.2 Removing Mulcher From Storage 8.1 Storing Mulcher 1. Review Operator’s manual and check adjustments. 2. If parts have been replaced, verify they run properly. 1. Store mulcher in a dry place. 2. Clean mulcher thoroughly. Dirt and wood chips will draw moisture and cause rust.
