    2 - PRODUCT AND FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION 2.1 Product description and area of application HALIOS and HALIOS Premium DIN Underground Fire Hydrants are only suitable for “OPEN – CLOSED” duty. Their main purpose is the access and withdrawal of water in order to extinguish fires. They comply with European standards DIN EN14339, DIN EN1074-6 and the relevant DVGW requirements W 386 (P), and they have DVGW approval for drinking water as well as the CE mark according to European Construction Products Directive 89/106/CEE.

    3 - TRANSPORT, HANDLING AND LIFTING The hydrant must be transported in the proper packaging to guarantee protection against external damage and bad weather. In case of severe climate conditions, special plastic-sealed packaging with desiccant products must be used. Transport must be carried out carefully in order to avoid shock and any kind of damage, especially to the coating.

    6 - COMMISSIONING • Set up the bolts, • Tighten them by hand, AND OPERATION • Tighten bolts gradually in a star-shaped pattern (see figure 6 – order from 1 to 8). • At the end, tighten the connecting bolts evenly, without distortion and crosswise, under a torque between 100 and 120 Nm.

    7 - MAINTENANCE The nominal pressure in the pipeline should not exceed the allowable operating pressure that the hydrant can support. On our hydrant, the materials and the corrosion protection are resistant to the commonly used disinfectant products. Take care not to affect hydrant materials when using cleaning / disinfecting products.
  • Page 14 7.2 Trouble shooting guide WARNING Excessive torque may damage the hydrant body and result in uncontrolled water leakage of up to 16 bar. In this case, further work on the hydrant must be stopped immediately and a safe distance to the hydrant must be maintained, especially directly above the hydrant. Isolating valve installed upstream the hydrant must be closed immediately in order to stop the supply of water.
