INTENDED USE
The Freesolo and Oval Guide chain guides are designed for use on mountain bikes or e-mountain
bikes according to category 5 / ASTM F2043.
Category 5 includes the use of bikes and their components in demanding, heavily blocked and
extremely steep terrain, which can only be mastered by technically experienced and very well
trained riders. In this category, big jumps are to be expected as well as intensive use in bike parks
or on downhill tracks. With these bikes it is essential to ensure that after each ride an intensive
check for possible damage is carried out. Pre-damages can lead to failure even if further stresses are
significantly lower. A regular replacement of safety-relevant components should also be considered.
Wearing appropriate protective gear is absolutely essential. Long travel full-suspension bikes but also
dirt bikes characterize this category.

MOUNTING THE CHAIN GUIDE
1. Attach the base plate (1) to the frame. The straight part of the base plate should point vertically
upwards.
• Mounting on ISCG taps: Tighten the fixing screw with a max. torque of 6 Nm.
• Mounting on the bottom bracket: Turn the bottom bracket counterclockwise and tighten it
with a torque of 40 Nm. Check the manufacturer's specifications for specific instructions.
2. Measure the distance between the base plate (1) and the centre of the chainring (= value X).
3. Push the CNC nut (2) from the inside through the base plate (1).
4. Apply spacers (A) as required depending on the measured value X.
5. Attach the inner guide (4) and the outer guide (5).
6. Screw in the screw (6) and adjust the slider to the appropriate chainring size (see B).
7. Tighten the screw (6) with a torque of 2 Nm.
8. Make sure that no part of the drive system grinds against the chain guide or is restricted in its
function.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
To ensure a long product life and faultless functioning, we recommend the following steps:
• Regularly check the tightening torques of all screw joints and tighten them with the specific
torque values if necessary.
• Regularly clean the chain guide using clear water or a soft cleaner. Read and follow the
instructions of the cleaning agent used.
• Regularly check the chain guide for any signs of damage and replace it if necessary. In case of
doubts or questions, the help of a trained bicycle mechanic must be used.
