Ethernet allows for control from devices such as Fairlight's Dream; or Apple and IBM computers (software is provided). Also, various PUP units can interface using an audio XLR data cable. This long range signal can be patched through normal audio tie lines, such as a multicore between a stage and mixing position.

The input connectors can be wired as normal, and because the main signal path is fully symmetrical, you can chose to wire either as pin 2 or pin 3 hot with no difference. If this is the case, messages from another source other than a valid controller addressed to the UP4 may possibly interrupt its control functions.
