LB Pinto 400 V3 29/7 Introduction This manual describes the LaserBit LB Pinto series of free space laser transmission system including the following models: E100 E100TP E10TP The LaserBit-Pinto product range offers cost effective, reliable free space laser transmission for 2Mbps up to 155Mbps data through the air, where a clear line of sight is available.
(depending on the weather conditions). The LaserBit heads are usually placed on top of buildings, where the clear line of sight is guaranteed and the beam cannot be interrupted.
1.2 Typical applications Most typically the LaserBit-TP is used to interconnect LAN-s. The system is protocol transparent, thus other applications also can be taken into consideration. Appropriate interface converters are needed and system bandwidth must be matched for that.
L A N System description 2.1 System layout The LaserBit communication link comprises two Laser Heads - one at each end - and the associated supporting hardware. All interface connections together with the power supply are housed in the Outdoor Interconnection Unit.
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/11 2.1.1 E100 TP and E10 TP Connect the head through the indoor box to the network switch. Do not connect the UTP cable directly from the head to your network equipment neither do not change the polarity of the RJ45 connectors. The Cables carries detector voltage so it can cause damage in the equipment.

LB Pinto 400 V3 29/14 2.1.2 E100 FO LB-E100-FO systems are for connecting LAN’s on 100Mbps with 100BaseFX connection. Installation distance between the head and the network equipment is 1200meters. Connecting the fibre cable from the head to the outdoor box, and from the outdoor box to the FX/TX converter.

Speeds are different E1: 2Mbps E2: 8Mbps E3: 34Mbps (Modular multiplexer available) Connect the fibre cable from the head to the outdoor box and from the outdoor box connect it straight to the multiplexer.
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/16 2.1.4 Connection of the management system Management system can be attached to any LB equipment, connection between the head and the Management indoor component is realized with RS485 connection...
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/17 2.2 The Outdoor interconnection unit The outdoor interconnection unit (OIU) provides the power supply for the head. This unit provides +8VDC, GND, -8VDC and the 30VDC for the head. Ensure that the cables are connected as it seen below. The OIU also has a TP connection module that provides an easy-to-use connection between the head and the local network.
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/18 2.2.2 Power to the Head This is where the necessary +8 VDC, Ground, -8 VDC and 30 VDC is connected to the head. Use the power cables embedded into the head and connect them to the 4 pin connector.

The proper system operation cannot be guaranteed without satisfying all the four requirements.
If the distance is too small contact your distributor or LaserBit support for information of the special installation! ? East-West orientation - although the receiver optics is equipped with optical filters to protect the receiver diode from the effect of undesired light sources, the direct sunshine can cause saturation of the diode.
In cases where installations are listed under “AVOID” cannot be avoided than special mounting accessories to be designed and special installations must be used. It is not only the building that has to be solid, but the support structure too. Antenna poles, security camera holders are not suitable for the LaserBit TP units. 3.1.1.3 Distance measurement Try to get as accurate information about the connection distance as you can in order to preset the system for you.
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/22 3.1.1.4 Direct sunshine To prevent the sun shining directly into the receiver optics, first one has to determine the orientation of the link. Try to avoid East-West orientation wherever it is possible. Examine both sides of the link at sunset and sunrise and find a position where the sun cannot get behind any of the heads.
LB Pinto 400 V3 29/23 3.3 Installation of the link For proper installation follow The Steps Listed Below. 1. Direct head “A” to side “B” using the embedded pointing device Align Cross-Hair at unit “B” 2. Direct head “B” to side “A” using the embedded pointing device.(See Diagram 3.1) Align Cross-Hairs at unit “B”.

LB Pinto 400 V3 29/24 3. fix the Pinto head on side “A” and on side “B” with the screws to the mounting frame and with the screws on the side of the unit(make sure that the unit is not moved during the tighten process).
If there is a transmission problem check the status of the connecting devices (e.g. link ON) and cables. If there’s no LINK signal, connect the network equipments back-to-back omitting the LaserBit system to ensure that they work properly. Should they operate well, get in contact with your supplier or call the...
