RC-Model. Of course, the DPSI LCD (just like all products from EMCOTEC) not only has been tested extensively in the laboratory, but also went through intensive flight-testing.
  • Page 4: Characteristics

The DPSI LCD can also serve as On/Off switch for certain products of the EMCOTEC DPSI program, thereby eliminating the need for the regular switch actuator. The DPSI LCD is mounted into the model just like a cockpit instrument.
  • Page 5 DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 There is a 6-pin connector in the center of the back side of the DPSI LCD for a connection cable. The connection cable (4-pin or 6-pin depending on DPSI base system) is simply connected to the 6-pin connector.

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 5. Assembly The DPSI LCD can be used as a cockpit instrument. Cut a squared hole of 57mm edge length and 6mm inner radii into the cockpit (or similar mounting plate). The DPSI LCD is then to be fed through the hole from back to front (!) and secured using 4 regular M3 screws.

Functions of Buttons Depending on the used or connected DPSI system, the three push buttons of the DPSI LCD can be used as On/Off switch (e.g. for the DPSI TWIN Mini including adapted dual power supply). Turning on is accomplished by pushing the “SET”-button.

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 7. Readouts of the LC-Display The LC-Display indicates all information in plain text using 3 lines, 12 characters each. The display varies, depending on which DPSI system the DPSI LCD is connected to. Display in respect to receivers (e.g. receiver switch): The currently active receiver How often the system switched receivers The receiving quality...

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 7.1. Readout after Power-On When turning the DPSI LCD on (or connecting it) the starting frame is displayed for about 2 seconds. Here one can see which DPSI system is supported (here: DPSI TWIN Mini). Now one can see how the system is programmed (Failsafe...

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 7.2. Readout of Receiver Information The system switches to regular display mode after displaying the start information (first 3 frames). Different screen information can be selected by the buttons. Receiver switch operating mode “Failsafe” The main menu of the receiver switch shows information about the connected receivers.
  • Page 16 DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 The last line depicts information for receiver 2: “0x” switched from receiver “2” to receiver “1”, its receiving quality is “100%”. Hint: The signal quality refers to the percental ratio of correctly evaluated servo pulses to erroneous servo pulses at the failsafe input.
  • Page 17 DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 Here, the Slave (=Student) is in control. The servo position on failsafe input of the main receiver (!) is -120%. The student is in control since 00:01:12 h:m:s Additional indications of the receiver switch: By pushing the buttons, other displays are possible.

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 Hint: If one of the buttons is pushed during error display, output is inhibited for 10 seconds and the regular display menu can be accessed. 7.4. Readout of the Current Supply Depending on which “DPSI base system” the DPSI LCD is connected to, additional frames are released.

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 7.5. Readout of Current Supply Errors When ever a battery malfunctions, this is displayed in plain text. Even an overload of the batteries or dual current supply is displayed. An overload exists, if the maximum allowable continuous current is exceeded for at least 10 seconds.
  • Page 22: Resetting Stored Values

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 8. Resetting Stored Values The values for operating time (flight-time in minutes) and withdrawn capacity (in mAh) can be reset. This is usually done after charging the batteries. Because the batteries are normally fully charged after charging, the DPSI system counts withdrawn capacity starting from 0 after reset.
  • Page 23: Programming / Setup

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9. Programming / Setup Different options can be easily programmed for the DPSI systems. Programming refers to e.g. desired operating mode (Failsafe or Master/Slave), settings for failsafe switching, displaying format of servo pulses (ms or %) and battery types to be used (NiMH, LiFePo, LiPo). Programming options vary depending on the DPSI base system.
  • Page 24: Programming Options

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.1. Programming Options The operating mode configures a receiver switch (e.g. DPSI TWIN Mini) as plain switch or if Master/Slave (Teacher/Student) operation is desired (see 9.2.). The switching position defines the switching values (in % of the servo track) where receiver switching should take place (see 9.3.).
  • Page 25: Operating Mode

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.2. Operating Mode An option is programmable or not depending on the DPSI system used. Confirming “operating mode” using the “SET”-button brings you into the submenu for setup. At the beginning, the active line is always “RETURN”.
  • Page 26: Switching Positions Failsafe

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.3. Switching Positions Failsafe The option “Switching Position” defines which signals at the failsafe input of the DPSI TWIN Mini switches from one receiver to the other. If the option “FAILSAFE” is programmed, “PASS” and “FAIL” are displayed.
  • Page 27: Switching Positions Master/Slave

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.4. Switching Positions Master/Slave programming Master/Slave (Teacher/Student) operation, thresholds are to be programmed as well where receiver switching has to occur. Programming works just like for failsafe switching. Hint: Master/Slave setting can be used without explicit Teacher/Student operation. This means: the main receiver RX1 (Master) is always active until it e.g.
  • Page 28: Units

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.5. Units Programming of units is conducted identical to all other settings. When programming switching positions, the units are always specified in %. In this case this setting therefore refers only to the display of the servo positions during normal operation.

DPSI LCD Operating Instructions Version 1.0 9.9. Factory Settings If a mistake occurred during programming or in case of uncertainty of an adjustment of the system, the base system can be reset to its delivery state with this option. 9.10. Exit / Return Using this option exits the programming mode and the system conducts a reset.
