METTLER TOLEDO PANTHER/PANTHER PLUS Terminals Installation Guide Accessing the Terminal's Controller To make the necessary wiring connections, you must access the terminal's Controller PCB. Access to the PTHN/PTHK's Controller board requires opening the terminal. Access to the PTPN's Controller board is provided directly on the back of the unit. - Page 17 Chapter 1: Introduction Accessing the Terminal's Controller PCB Note: When the cover swings down, the terminal strips on the Controller PCB can be seen. Before applying power, confirm that the power cord is wired properly for the AC voltage where the terminal will be used. The power cord connects to the TB1 terminal strip on the controller PCB. -

Chapter 3: Installing/Wiring Option Cards Options Installing/Wiring Option Cards Options Various option cards are available for use with the PANTHER and/or PANTHER Plus terminals. They include: • Analog Output • Allen-Bradley RIO • Modbus Plus • Profibus • Setpoint Output (panel-mount only) If the option cards were ordered separately, the instructions for installing them will be included with the option cards. -

The Analog Output Option Kit provides output ranges of 0-10 VDC or 4 - 20 mA plus an optically isolated open collector status indication output. The Analog Output PCB may be installed in either the harsh environment PANTHER and PANTHER PLUS terminals or in the panel-mount PANTHER terminal. -

There are two connections for the Modbus Plus Interface. • The standard connection for the PANTHER panel-mount terminal is the DE-9 female connector. Wiring instructions come with the connector. The Modbus Plus network uses pins 1, 2, and 3 of the DE-9 connector (supplied by Modicon). -

8 TX/RX- 9 N.C. For the PANTHER harsh environment terminal, the pluggable terminal strip must be used. In these cases, an optional pigtail harness is available to wire from the terminal strip to a female 9-pin D connector. The adapter harness can be ordered using factory number 0900-0311. -

Um auf die Controller-Leiterplatte des PTHN- bzw. Application Example Using Load Cells The following is an example of applying the PANTHER terminal in a Division 2 application connecting a model 2158 Vertex floor scale with 50 feet of load cell cable. The field circuit parameters for all devices and cables in the load cell line (including the load cells and junction box) must also be known. - Page 199 (29 µH + 0 µH + 10 µH) ≤ 1.3 mH PASS In addition to the formulas above, the temperature rating of the PANTHER panel-mount terminal must be checked against the AIT (Auto Ignition Temperature) of the hazardous product. For this example, the hazardous product has an AIT of 200°C (393°F) which is higher than the rating of the panel-mount terminal, which is 120°C (248°F).
