    Getting Started Introduction ® The information in this guide explains how to install and configure Bullhorn RM2000 series units, including the RM2020, for service using the Universal Configuration Toolkit (UCT) software. The information applies to the unit type that uses satellite (ORBCOMM) network services for communications with the Bullhorn Asset Tracker (BAT) website.

    RM2000 Series Installation and Configuration Guide The flexibility of the Bullhorn unit enables it to monitor various types of devices such as cathodic protection rectifiers, test points, critical bonds, tanks, and meters. After installing the unit, you then configure it for service using the Universal Configuration Toolkit (UCT) software.

     Ground Connection If you are working with a Bullhorn unit that includes the rectifier interface option with surge protection or test point filter option with surge protection, an external ground connection is not required. Both of these options provide enhanced surge protection either in the design of the unit or as an external connection.

    RM2000 Series Installation and Configuration Guide If you are working with a Bullhorn unit that does not include either of the options described above, do not ground at the Bullhorn unit. Common practice is to ground the shield of the instrument cable at only one end. Ground the shield drain wire to a suitable ground point at the source of the signal instead.

    Installing the USB device driver is a one-time process and does not need to be repeated if you have already installed the driver on your computer. Once it is installed on your computer, it will work for any Bullhorn unit that includes a USB configuration port.

    RM2020 Installation The procedures in this chapter explain how to install an RM2020. RM2020 Overview The RM2020 (Figure 2-1) is housed in a NEMA-rated weatherproof enclosure. It is primarily used in cathodic protection applications and uses the ORBCOMM satellite network for data transmissions. The RM2020 also includes 6 isolated input channels with the following specifications: Input channels 1, 3, and 4: support analog (±5VDC) or active digital.

    RM2000 Series Configuration Introduction This chapter explains how to configure RM2020 units for service using the Universal Configuration Toolkit (UCT) software. Configuration Overview The configuration process includes the following tasks: If present, disable any synchronization software (page 30). Connect the unit to your computer. Start UCT and select a unit to configure (page 30).

    If you use a synchronization software to synchronize a mobile device with your computer, temporarily disable the software before starting UCT.
