Battery Condition Indicator
The Battery Condition Indicator (BCI) displays the condition of your
battery instantly. The BCI can be used with all 12 Volt batteries, any
size/type, including maintenance-free, deep cycle and gel.
Installing the BCI
1.
Turn engine and all accessories off.
2.
Carefully find the best location on or near your battery to place the
BCI so it can be easily seen and read. Make sure the leads from the
BCI reach the bottom terminal clamps provided.
3.
Clean surface you plan to attach the BCI to with the alcohol pad
provided in the package.
4.
Peel the paper off of the Velcro and attach the BCI.
5.
Attach the red ring terminal of the BCI to the positive (+) terminal
clamp of the battery.
6.
Attach the black ring terminal of the BCI to the negative (-) terminal
clamp of the battery.
Testing the Battery with the BCI
The Battery Condition Indicator (BCI) gives you a quick and accurate
indication of your battery's charge condition. It allows you to determine
whether your battery needs to be charged, is not holding its charge, or
needs to be replaced or desulfated.
Always let the battery rest for minimum of 8 hours for most accurate
readings. Resting means that you do not charge, discharge or run the
engine for the 8 hours. Test the battery with the BCI only when your
engine is turned off.
1.
Make sure the engine is turned off.
2.
Press the Push button on the BCI.
3.
See the table (next page) for an explanation of the lights.
4.
If no LEDs are lit, the battery can be considered dead and unlikely
able to be restored.
