Configuring and Loading the Proofing Media Overview The Lotem® 800 II with Spectrum proofing option enhances the Lotem 800 systems and enables you to create halftone proofing. Since the same RIPed data, screening process, and imaging head are used for both proofs and plates, full conformity between the two media is assured.

Using the Dual-Loading Cassette (DLC) Using the Dual-Loading Cassette (DLC) The dual-loading cassette (DLC), which is available for all Lotem 800 II with Spectrum platesetters, is installed and configured at initial platesetter installation or when the platesetter is upgraded to DLC configuration. The DLC has a main compartment and an upper tray thus, it enhances automatic plate and proof loading.
Place the appropriate donor on top of the separator. The color of the Creo logo all around the edge of the separator indicates what color donor to load. For example, if the Creo logo is cyan, then load a cyan donor on top of the separator.
Page 27
Using the Dual-Loading Cassette (DLC) Ensure that the notch on the proofing tray is on the upper left corner. The top edge of the donor must be inserted in the far edge of the proofing tray. Note: 4-up media is arranged vertically on the proofing tray (not horizontally like the 8-up media).
Configuring and Loading the Proofing Media If you want to add spot colors, use the separators specifically marked for spot colors. Arrange the media appropriately as described in Arranging Media on the Proofing Tray (first generation) on page 16. When done, place the proofing tray on the upper tray of the DLC. Arranging Media on the Proofing Tray (second generation) For the newer proofing tray (second generation), there is a simpler method of arrangement.
Using the Dual-Loading Cassette (DLC) Positioning the Carrier Always load the carrier onto the drum before you send a job for proofing. To position the carrier in the DLC: Place the carrier facing down in the DLC. Note: Make sure the blue lines are facing downwards. Figure 10: Placing the carrier facing downwards on the DLC Push the carrier forward to the edge of the DLC.
Configuring and Loading the Proofing Media Loading the Carrier When sending a job to proof, the carrier is loaded automatically, a message appears asking you to place the carrier on the upper tray. However, if you want to initiate the process then do the following: To load the carrier in the upper tray Note: Using the cassette cover is not mandatory.
