explanation of the PTY:

and trading news, medical conference
and weather information

education programmes
• DRAMA: Plays and literature
performances

community programmes
• SCIENCE: Scientific and technical
programmes
• VARIED: Entertainment
• POP M: Popular Music
• ROCK M: Rock Music
• MOR M: Middle of the Road Music

RDS Display Options
The RDS system is capable of transmit-
ting a wide variety of information. In
normal RDS operation the display will
indicate the station name, call letters or
other program service (PS). Pressing the
button

enables you to
Display
cycle through the various data types in
the following sequence:
1. The station's frequency (this is not
RDS data.)
2. The Programme Type (PTY) as shown
on the above list.
3. A "text" message containing special
information from the broadcast station.
Note that this message scrolls across the
display to permit messages longer than
the eight positions in the display.
Depending on signal quality it may take
up to 30 seconds for the text message to
appear. During that time the word
will blink in the display until the
TEXT
tuner receives the entire text message.
