    MODEL 525WIRE TIE MACHINE OPERATION The Hamer Model 525 Wire Tie is designed to Form, Fill, and Seal bag sizes of 9” to 16” wide by 16” to 35” long. To activate this machine, product must enter the Volumetric Filler. Product is detected by a sensor in the filler which activates a cam that strikes the prox switch on the filler drum.

    OPERATION CONTROLS (Electrical Control Panel) (See Figure 1, pg 9) 1.     LOADING FILM INTO THE FILM FEED BELTS (See Figure 5) 1. Set the Selector Switch (See Figure 1) to the Hand Position. 2. Feed the film through the Film Feed Rollers. 3. Pass the Film between the Static Eliminator brushes, the Photo Eye Detector and the Perforator Unit. 4.

    POSITIONING THE PHOTO EYE ASSEMBLY The centering of the Label with the Bag is determined by the position of the Photo Eye. 1. Pull back on the Cam Lock to release the Photo Eye Assembly. 2. Compare the center of the Label with the center of the Bag. Measure the distance from the center of the Label to the center of the bag.

    ADJUSTMENTS AIR PRESSURE REGULATOR/FILTER The Air Pressure Regulator should be set to read 80 PSI. With air connected, pull up on the knob of the regulator. This unlocks the knob so that the air pressure can be adjusted. Once the pressure is set to 80 PSI, push the knob back down to lock knob.

  • Page 23: Film Feed Belts ; Removal & Replacement

    FIGURE 5 FILM FEED BELTS REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT (See Figure 5) CAUTION: TURN THE MAIN DISCONNECT ON THE CONTROL PANEL TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND REMOVE THE AIR SUPPLY FROM THE MACHINE BEFORE MAKING ADJUSTMENTS. 1. Turn the Main Disconnect to the “off” position and remove the Air Supply to the machine. 2.
  • Page 24 7. The film feed belts are ready to be removed from the film feed system and be replaced with the new film feed belts. 8. Install the new Film Feed Belts, first around the independent idler pulley mounted to the tail pulley plate. Next, guide the belt through all the idler pulleys and idler pinch pulleys along the full length of the film path to the take-up pulley on the exit end of the machine.

    FILM ROLL BRAKE CAM (See Figure 6) The dancer arm and film feed rollers aid in the film unwind process. When the Film Feed Drive System stops, the dancer arm is pulled back to the home position by the dancer spring. In this position, the dancer arm needs to activate the brake air valve.

    FILM FEED CHAIN TENSION (See Figure 7) The tension on the Film Feed Chain should be checked periodically for proper setting. To Adjust: Loosen the Mounting Bolt beneath the Chain Tensioned with wrenches as shown in (Figure 7). Turn the Chain Tensioned counter- clockwise until the Tensioned Arm is deflected 15 degrees as indicated by the gauge on the Tensioned Body.

    CONVEYOR ADJUSTMENTS The Conveyor may be raised or lowered by turning the hand crank. The Conveyor should be adjusted so that it holds the bag in a vertical position as the bag is being filled. The Conveyor must also make enough contact with the bottom of the filled bag to hold it in a vertical position as it is transported by the Feed Belt System The Conveyor must be located horizontally so that the filled bag will fall off the end of the Conveyor Belt just after the bag has been tied.

    PRODUCT SLAPPER AND WIGGLER The purpose of the Product Slapper is to insure that all the product in the product chamber falls into the bag during the fill cycle. During this cycle, the Slapper administers a sharp blow to the product in the chamber, causing it to fall into the bag below.

    BAG CLOSER MOUNTING The Bag Closer can be adjusted in or out as needed to gather bags as they come out of the Film Feed System. 1. Loosen the two Hex Head Cap Screws on the Closer Stop Lock and slide the Bag Closer in or out as needed, then retighten the Hex Head Cap Screws on the Closer Stop Lock.
