Part Number WW-700-34 Winch, Lowering Device Instructions Attach the Woody’s winch and clutch device as pre- viously described. The working line should be running vertically through the lowering device fair leads and into the winch opening. A minimum of 3 clockwise wraps around the winch drum and into the self tailing device provides sufficient friction on the line for winching operations up to the M.W.L of...
Page 13
Part Number WW-700-34 Winch, Lowering Device Instructions The photo opposite shows the correct working line orientation through the lowering device fairleads and around the lowering bollard. The lowering bollard is de- signed to take larger shock loads than the winch drum and must be used when dynamically lowering large sec- tions of timber.
Page 14
Part Number WW-700-34 Add more wraps to create extra friction, remember the Woody’s Winch has a large diameter lowering bollard that creates a larger amount of friction per wrap than smaller bollards, take this into account when determin- ing the amount of wraps to apply. Apply the appropriate number of wraps and ensure the working line exits the bollard via an exit fairlead.
Page 15
Part Number WW-700-34 When using the Woody’s Winch for horizontal winching operations the operator must ensure the working line is redirected using an additional fairlead mounted above the Woody’s Winch. Using a suitably rated pulley and sling is recommended. Failure to follow this procedure will damage the devices fairleads and pull them out of alignment.
