- Page 3 Safety CHARGER SAFETY GUIDELINES Batteries and Chargers • Only use charger on branch circuits protected by a circuit breaker or fuse that can carry the power of the charger. Use caution; risk of explosive gases. • Do not use charger if it shows signs of physical stress, or if Batteries generate explosive gases during normal operation.
- Page 4 Charging GENERAL INFORMATION CAUTION: THIS CHARGER IS DESIGNED ONLY TO BE USED WITH NATIONAL’S #5204 EXTENDED RUN POWER PACKS. DO NOT USE THIS CHARGER WITH THE #5203 LIFT-OUT STYLE POWER PACKS OR ANY OTHER BATTERIES. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS WARNING MY CAUSE DAMAGE TO CHARGER, BATTERIES AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL VOID ALL WARRANTIES. Charging can be done on-board or externally of the machine.
- Page 5 Charging CHARGING PROCEDURE Turn emergency stop switch to the OFF position (see Figure A). (For on-board charging only.) Open and secure the rear hood (see Figure B). Keep open for ventilation. (For on-board charging only.) Unplug the blue machine plug from the blue 48 volt plug on the power pack (see Figure C). (For on-board charging only.) Power packs must be connected in order to charge (hooked in series, gray plugs on top of the packs).
