5. Warranty Karma offers a 5-year guarantee on the frame and cross-braces and a 1-year guarantee on the gas strut after delivery to the customer. Your local supplier will carry out this warranty. The wheelchair must be repaired by a Karma designated Customer Service agent.

6. Intended use The wheelchair is intended to provide mobility to people with mobility limitations and require proper sitting positioning. The maximum user weight is 75 kg. We strongly suggest the wheelchair occupant be evaluated by a doctor, therapist, or other qualified and trained staff before using the wheelchair. The wheelchair user should physically and mentally be able to use the wheelchair safely.

8.2 Attendant brake The attendant brakes allow the caregiver to brake the wheelchair when needed. They can also be used to lock the rear wheels to the wheelchair from moving. To brake the wheelchair while moving, squeeze both brake handles (A) upwards to slow down and stop the wheelchair.

When using the brake, always keep your hand on the brake Caution lever. If needed, contact a Karma authorized dealer to adjust the distance between the brake shoe and the tire to keep the Note braking efficacy.

8.4.3 Angle According to the user’s needs, the seat angle can be preset to 0 degrees or 5 degrees. If necessary, please consult a Karma authorized dealer for adjustment. When the preset seat angle is 0 degrees, vertical footrests/legrests are recommended to avoid interference.

8.4.4 Tilt The seat tilt function contributes to pressure relief and provides a more stable seat position and safe driving when driving down a slope. The tilting angle is up to 45°. To adjust the seat angle, pull the blue lever (A) marked with the symbol (B) on the left-hand side to tilt the seat to the desired position.

⚫ When tilting, the total length of the wheelchair will become longer. Make sure there is sufficient space to propel the wheelchair. ⚫ The user should keep the head in an upright position when the backrest is reclined, and/or the seat is tilted. The wheelchair must always be equipped with a headrest.

⚫ When reclining, always steer clear of obstacles where possible, especially at the front and rear of the wheelchair. ⚫ Keep your fingers away from the gap between the movable parts and the frame. Caution ⚫ When reclining, the total length of the wheelchair will become longer.

The dynamic backrest (optional) provides movement of the back to absorb the extensor forces. This mechanism can protect the client from injury and the seating system from breakage. To engage the shock-absorbing dynamic backrest, rotate the switch (C) clockwise. To stop the shock-absorbing dynamic backrest, rotate the switch counterclockwise.

8.7 Armrest The T-bar armrest can support the user’s upper limbs and is removable for side transfer. The T-bar armrest is also easy to adjust in height and position. Different armpads are available for good support and comfort. To detach the armrest, pull and hold the release knob (A) located inside the armrest.

The footrest is removable for easy transfer in tight spaces. To detach the footrest, activate the release knob (A) and pull the footrest upwards. To put the footrest back, put the footrest on the bracket of the front frame until you can feel/see that the footrest is securely locked in place.

8.10 Headrest There are various types of headrests available. The headrest is removable and adjustable in height, depth, horizontal position, and angle to meet users’ requirements. 8.12 Hip support / Lateral knee support (optional) Hip support / lateral knee support facilitates thigh alignment, stabilizes sitting posture, and prevents hip abduction. The hip and knee support are the same accessories mounted in different locations of the seat rail. The support is adjustable in height, depth, width, and angle.

Be careful not to trap your arm between lateral trunk support and armrest when changing the backrest angle. Caution 8.14 Tray table (optional) The tray table provides a desktop for daily activities and a support surface for the user’s elbows to increase the upper body stability. 8.17.2 Chest harness The chest harness helps maintain the seating position and improve trunk stability, allowing for better head and neck position. Use the pull strap to adjust the tightness. The upper and lower strap can be fixed at the desired position to meet the user’s needs (Refer to Section 11.5.2).

9. Wheelchair components - adjustments Before use, it is vital to make a proper adjustment for a better fit. This chapter will explain all the necessary adjustments before the first use. An improper adjustment of the wheelchair might lead to uncontrolled driving, resulting in personal hurt or material Caution damage.

Using the wheelchair 10.1 General warnings and precautions Please read this section of the manual very carefully as it contains issues related to safety and possible hazards. ⚫ Use the anti-tippers in the active position in normal situations. When going up or down a curb, you may need to rotate them into an inactive position to prevent from getting stuck.

10.2.1 Folding the wheelchair 1. Remove all the removable components, including armrests, footrests or legrests (optional), rear wheels, seat and back cushion, and seat and back accessories. 10.5 Negotiating steps and curbs Please note that it is always better to avoid curbs or steps. It’s better to use ramps whenever possible. If possible, ask for help from an assistant/attendant while negotiating steps and curbs. ⚫ Always be careful when going up or down curbs and never negotiate curbs backwards without an attendant.

10.8 Stability and balance when seated Leaning forwards, backwards, or sideways will affect the wheelchair’s stability. The user may fall out when leaning too far in the chair or overreaching for objects. When leaning, use the pelvic belt and follow the instructions bellow to keep the user stable and safe.

Transport 11.1 Transporting the wheelchair with occupant Karma strongly recommends transferring the wheelchair user to a vehicle seat for better safety.
