Connect the
red
wire to the positive battery terminal.
Connect the
black
wire to the negative battery terminal.
The
red
and
black
wires can also be connected to the battery switch or other power source
but ONLY to the permanent live side - not the switched side.
The device must always be connected to PERMANENT power.
It is recommended that the
wrapped with waterproof electrical tape.
Once connected to PERMANENT power, the device will self-activate and search for the GPS and cell signal.
This process is confirmed by the blinking light on the side of the device located on the
the wine glass shape.
The blinking light is faint in bright sunlight
The Boat Fix device should be secured in a dry, hidden location ideally close to the connection of
the
black
and
red
wires in STEP 1.
The side with the white label must point UPWARDS towards the sky so that the built-in GPS antenna is
facing the right way.
The GPS signal can transmit through up to 1/2" of wood, fiberglass, Perspex and glass but DO NOT mount
the Boat Fix device behind thick metal or carbon fiber.
The Boat Fix device can be held securely in place with double-sided Velcro or zip ties.
Any unused wires ( see WIRE COLOR GUIDE below) should be clipped or coiled and sealed with
waterproof tape.
STEP 4 - CONNECTING TO THE BILGE PUMP ALARM
Connect the
white
wire to the automatic bilge pump CONSTANT POWER SUPPLY - and
NOT the manual override wire.
If the boat has a bilge alarm light, it is recommended to connect to the alarm output side of the bilge alarm.
Ensure that the battery connecting the
automatic bilge pump is connected to.
The device can be connected to multiple bilge pumps if required.
