Purpose:
Clean and disinfect respirator mask
Equipment:
MSA Half Mask Respirator
P100 Low Profile Filters or Advantage P100 Flexi
Filters
Prevention Accel Wipes
1. Observe Routine Practices, including hand hygiene, and use proper body mechanics
2. Don medical gloves
3. Remove P-100 cartridges by turning them counter-clockwise and gently pulling them away from the
mask
4. Set the P-100 cartridges aside
5. Wipe respirator mask and straps using Prevention Accel wipes
6. Wipe down the hard plastic case of the P-100 cartridges with Prevention Accel Wipes
7. Remove medical gloves using glove-to-glove, skin-to-skin technique
8. Perform hand hygiene with Alcohol Based Hand Sanitizer
9. Rinse respirator thoroughly under warm water
10. Wipe down hard plastic case of P-100 cartridges with warm water dampened single use cloth or
paper towel. Discard cloth or paper towel after use.
11. Set respirator and cartridges aside and allow to air dry in a safe place away from any patient care
areas
12. Perform hand hygiene with Alcohol Based Hand Sanitizer
