Compact, simple, efficient and reliable are the design principles behind our unique Alta RO 400. We succeeded in creating the most user-friendly experience without compromising on the results.
2. Reverse Osmosis principle Natural osmosis phenomenon To understand reverse osmosis, we first need to take a look at the natural osmosis phenomenon, as illustrated in figure A. The setup is made of two compartments sep‐ arated by a “semi-permeable” membrane. The membrane is permeable to water but not to salt.

(RO permeate) Figure C : RO membrane operation The Alta RO 400 was designed to operate at a standard waste to product ratio of 2:1 ), to provide the optimum combination between performance, lifetime and water consumption for most conditions. In case your feed water has a low TDS (Total Dissolved Solid <...
80 psi you must install a 3/8” pressure reducer upstream of the filter system. Pressure reducers are available at www.altaponics.com. • The minimum required pressure to operate the unit is 40 psi. If your inlet pressure is lower than 40 psi it is highly recommended to install a booster pump.
5. How to use push-in / quick connect fittings Our water filters use push-in / quick connect fittings for easy assembly and mainten‐ ance. To connect the tube simply push it in by hand, no tools required. Collet (gripper) O-ring Tube stop a) Make a proper tube cut b) Connect the tube...
• If your inlet pressure is lower than 40 psi it is recommended to install a booster pump. Booster pumps are available at www.altaponics.com. Filter cartridge: Prior to installing a new filter, always write the installation date at the back of the filter in the designated area.

Wall-mount The filter unit can be used as a stand-alone unit or directly mounted on a wall. Use the 3 designated holes to fix the unit on a wall. The hardware used to se‐ cure the wall mount plate depends on your wall material and is not included.

Start-up Following a new filter installation, always turn on feed water slowly to evacuate the air present in the system. Full feed water pressure can be restored once all the air has been properly flushed out. Step 1: Flush sediment & carbon 2-in-1 filter Install blind cap instead of RO membrane filter cartridge.
Page 14
Open position Flow restrictor position Slowly turn on feed pressure to flush air out of the RO membrane, the product and the rinsing valves must be in the open rinse position. Once air was flushed out, restore feed water pressure and rinse for 2-3 min, than set the rinsing valve into flow restrictor position and rinse for at least another 20 min.
Page 15
Operation Product rinse and operation Flow restrictor position It is normal to observe higher product conductivity / TDS at start following a stand-by time. We recommend to rinse the unit for 2-3 min with the product water diverted to drain to obtain optimum water quality prior to use. During the initial rinse and standard operation, the rinsing valve should be in flow restrictor position.
Page 16
Automatic shut-off valve operation The automatic shut-off valve function is to fully stop the unit and avoid waste water flow when the product valve is closed. By closing the product valve, the pressure on the product side rises to a level where it triggers the piston inside the automatic shut- off valve to close and stop the waste flow.
7. Maintenance / Filters replacement The sediment & carbon 2-in-1 filter and the RO membrane are already integrated into the cartridge. This makes replacement much easier with no need for tools compared to standard filter elements and RO membranes. It saves you time and prevents the risk of improper brine seal installation leading to potential leaks and poor RO product water quality.
Page 18
To remove the cartridge simply unscrew clockwise until the cartridge disconnects from the filter head. To install the new cartridge, push the filter cartridge straight into the head and screw counter clockwise. After 1.5 rotation the filter should be locked in its final position.
8. Parts specifications Sediment & carbon 2-in-1 filter Our innovative sediment & carbon 2-in-1 filter is manufactured from cellulose fibers as small as 50 nanometers in diameter. Compared to a traditional carbon block or GAC filter, it allows for an increased filtration surface area. The benefits are a lower pres‐ sure loss, an increased lifetime and a lower degree of filtration down to 1 μm.
