6. Ensure the chain is in the correct running direction
by comparing it to the chain direction symbol (30)
found on the saw body. Ensure the bar tensioning
plate (29) is facing outward (Fig A5).
7. Fit the chain onto the drive sprocket (28) and
make sure the chain is fully located around the
drive sprocket (28), so that the fastening bar bolt
hole (32) and the two bar locating tabs (31) on
the bar pad fit into the keyway of the opening
on the guide bar (7) (Fig A6).
8. Ensure all parts are seated properly. Make
sure the drive links are fully seated in the drive
sprocket (28), and ensure to avoid placing the
chain in the inverse direction. If kink occurs, pick
up the chain at the guide bar just ahead of the
kink and then pull the kink out (Fig A7).
WARNING: The chain is not yet tensioned.
Tensioning the chain is described under
"TENSIONING THE CHAIN" . The chain now
needs to be inspected to make sure it is
properly tensioned.
9. Replace the chain drive side cover (9) on to the
chainsaw and hold the cover firmly against the
bar (Fig A8).
10. When the fastening bar bolt (34) aligns with the
fastening bar bolt hole (32), the cover will drop
firmly and flat on the bar (Fig A9).
11. Tighten the chain drive side cover (9) by
turning the chain tensioning knob (8) clockwise
with your hand until the chain drive side cover
(9) is tight (Fig A10).
12. Check the chain tension: The correct chain
tension is reached when the chain can be
raised approx. 0.12 – 0.24" (3 – 6 mm) from the
guide bar in the centre (using a small amount
