Thank you for choosing the KE-CD 1000 controller. KE-CD 1000 is a microprocessor-based controller used to analyze and control Conductivity or TDS parameter in various water application. KE-CD 1000 provides set point values and relay for High Low signal. This manual explains the use of KE-CD 1000 controller. This instruction manual is written to cover as many anticipated applications of controller.
KE-CD 1000 is a microprocessor-based controller used to analyze and control Conductivity or TDS parameter in various water application. KE-CD 1000 provides set point values and relay for High Low signal. KE-CD 1000 is simple to control through its 6-buttons control panel.
Applications KE-CD 1000 Controller can be used in different industrial applications as mentioned below: • REVERSE OSMOSIS • BOILER WATER • COOLING WATER • CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM • DRINKING WATER • TEXTILES CHEMICALS • WASTE WATER Section : 2 Controller Mounting...
Power A 16 - 24 VDC power supply (max. 35 VDC) must be used to power the KE-CD 1000 controller. The exact connection of this power supply is shown in the given image in this section. Always separate input DC power from high power sources, frequency drives, motors, or other electrical signal wires, which may contribute noise to a system and cause disturbance in reading.
CONDUCTIVITY CONTROLLER BACKSIDE Sensor Electrode The sensor electrode cable can be connected to the KE-CD 1000 controller terminal strip by matching the wire colors on the cable conductors. Route the signal cable away from AC power wires, frequency drives, motors, or other electrical signal wires. Do not put sensor or signal cables in conduit that contains AC power cables and motor cables.
Relay HI / LO Connection RIGHT CONNECTOR Two (Relay lo, Relay hi) cables can be connected to the KE-CD 1000 controller terminal strip by inserting the wires in RELAY HI, RELAY LO connections. (Marked in Yellow and Purple) • One connection can be used for High relay function. Connect top (yellow marked connections) with RELAY HI terminals.
Section : 5 Keypad Function General Guidelines KE-CD 1000 is simple to control through its 6-buttons control panel. Figure below shows individual keypad buttons with their respective functions: UPWARD / TOP DOWNWARD / BOTTOM FORWARD / RIGHT MENU UPWARD / TOP...
Section : 6 LCD Display General Guidelines KE-CD 1000 controller is easy and clear to view through its large graphical LCD (128 x 64) with adjustable contrast and adjustable backlight. Figure below shows the display icons with their respective description:...
Check expiration date on buffer bottles. If possible, use deionized water to wash sensor electrode before calibration and between buffers. Calibration should be done when using KE-CD 1000 controller with a new electrode for the first time or when feel that the controller/electrode is out of calibration.
Section : 8 Sequential Functions Setup Main Menu KE-CD 1000 controller has an interactive main menu which has four sub menus and their corresponding Minor Sub Menus. Menu Button Insert Password. Default password is 0000 (See section: 1.1) Main Menu will appear on the Screen. Main Menu has...
Contrast User can define display contrast from this setting. Menu Button Insert Password Downward Button Enter Button Settings Downward Button Display Setting Enter Button Downward Button Contrast Enter Button Contrast can be set by pressing forward button. Default contrast for controller is 35%. Loop Current User can define initial and final set point values for respective Conductivity / TDS and Temperature...
Press menu button for increment in decimal values by 0.01. The value can be selected to Maximum 999.99. Second is the Factor which is used for setting value above 999.99. Factor can be put as 1 or 10 by pressing enter after selection of factor tab.
Time User can define customized time from this setting. Menu Button Insert Password Downward Button Settings Enter Button Downward Button Clock Setting Enter Button Downward Button Time Enter Button Press enter to edit time. Use upward and downward button to increment or decrement hour and minute by 1 unit.
Units User can define customized units from this setting. Menu Button Insert Password Downward Button Settings Enter Button Downward Button Units Enter Button Units Setting Controller has the option of displaying both conductivity or TDS units. Microsiemens / cm (μS/cm) , Millisiemens / cm (mS/cm) to be used for conductivity values and Parts per Million (PPM), Parts per Thousand (PPT) to be used for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) values.
For CDS 1000 series sensor, kindly see the data sheet KE-CDS 1000 Series TDS-R0 for cell constant values (k-value) enclosed in the conductivity sensor package. Cell constant values can be inserted ranging from 0 to 20. Press upward and downward button for increment and decrement in main digits by 1.
Status (MTC / ATC) Controller can be compensated both manually and automatically according to conductivity sensor. Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) needs to be selected if the conductivity sensor has RTD PT1000 feature. CDS 1000 series contains RTD PT1000 feature for ATC. If the conductivity sensor doesn’t have the RTD PT1000 feature than MTC will be selected automatically.
Temperature Coefficient Temperature coefficient (-value) is used as an input for temperature compensation both ATC. Temperature relates directly to conductivity and compensation will not be functional unless the value of temperature coefficient is feed in the controller. To calculate the temperature coefficient values please refer to formula below: ...
8.1.3 Relays Output Controller has the feature to control two output components / devices using its relays output function and it comes with built in two relays. One is for low value (ON/OFF) and second is for high value (ON/OFF) . Menu Button Insert Password Downward...
Relay 2 HI User can give controller the high conductivity / TDS value input through which it can operate the respective component / device if the value rises above the input value. First is the Value of conductivity / TDS which can be feed by Pressing enter after selection of value Tab and second is the Factor.
(0.001) by 1. Press enter button to store value and controller will return to main screen. RCB recommends using TDS factor 0.63 for feed water, 0.67 for reject water & 0.55 for product water to get better values of TDS.
Reset Resetting the controller to factory default settings can be done from this setting. Menu Button Insert Password Downward Button Others Enter Button Downward Button Reset Controller will set to factory default settings in 3 secs. and return to main Screen. Factory settings will clear following settings to default: 1- Loop current values to default 2- Clock settings to default...
Section : 9 Troubleshooting General Guidelines This section informs the user how to quickly resolve an operational problem with the system. During any troubleshooting phase, it will save time if the operator can firstly determine the problem. Either it is related to the process controller, process sensor, or some external source. Therefore, this section is organized from the approach of excluding any likely external sources, isolating the transmitter and finally isolating the electrode.
Maintenance / replacement parts for controller are available as per requirement. For any requirement of parts kindly contact the RCB Chemicals representative. Damaged electronic PCB’s , PCB components, buttons, connectors and LED can also be replaced if required. RCB’s corresponding personnel will remain in contact until the issue is resolved.
