RISK GROUP 3 UV EMITTED FROM THIS EQUIPMENT Avoid eye and skin exposure to unshielded equipment UV Safety Squid UV LED Curing System light sources are classified as Risk Group 3 under IEC 62471, at a distance of 200mm. Scope of IEC62471 The IEC62471 standard “Photobiological Safety of Lamps and Lamp Systems”...
Risk Group 2 – Moderate Risk: Does not pose a hazard due to aversion response to very bright light sources or due to thermal discomfort. A portion of UV light source will be visible and be a strong stimulus.
10 Safety Safety Shielding Enclosure The user will need to create a safety shielding enclosure around the UV lamp to protect workers from exposure to ultraviolet light. If possible, only place the lamp within the enclosure, and install the printer outside of the enclosure. The enclosure should be made with a non-reflective material which is especially important if the printhead must be mounted inside the enclosure.

Introduction General System Description The Squid UV LED Curing System will cure UV Curable inks on a variety of substrates. The illumination area is .80” (20mm) X 3.2” (80mm). The Squid UV LED consists of a Controller, illumination module, data and power cables.
18 Assembly and Installation Assembly and Installation Position the Illumination Module Position the illumination module a short distance downstream from the printhead. Variables such as substrate type, ink formulation, and line speed will affect curing time. Generally, the closer the illumination module is to the printhead, the better the results. Mount the illumination module as far downstream as possible from the printhead with at least 2-1/2”...
Mounting Hardware Each installation is unique, so we cannot anticipate all mounting requirements for each installation site. Squid Ink Manufacturing has made available a mounting kit for the single and dual lamp systems that should satisfy most mounting requirements. Should it be necessary to construct custom mounting brackets, there are several mounting holes on the Illumination Module for mounting screws.
