What is the protocol for breath stacking?

1 comments:
Mr. Anderson
May 14, 2025

The breath stacking protocol for the ABM BiWaze Cough device involves using inspiratory triggers and flow settings to assist the patient in achieving maximal lung insufflation. The device detects patient effort through pressure and flow changes during the pause phase. If inspiratory trigger is enabled, the device waits up to 30 seconds to detect an inspiratory effort before delivering the set inspiratory pressure. The inspiratory flow can be adjusted for comfort, while expiratory switching is fast and at high flow to simulate a cough. This approach supports breath stacking by allowing multiple assisted breaths before an exhalation.
