  • Page 7 Damage or faults as a result of misuse or even unintended use are not covered by the warranty. Defect or broken parts need to be send back to Huka B.V. for investigation. According to the results of this investigation, the guarantee will be supplied.
  • Page 8 Use only original parts supplied by Huka BV or it authorized dealer. The use of non original parts on a Huka product automatically the warranty will be void. Repairs are only to be done by qualified and certified personnel. Only then the product is factory guaranteed. Damage to the product as a result of repairs by non authorized persons will automatically void the warranty on the product or parts.
  • Page 9 The Pendel is classified as a Class C wheelchair. The wheelchair to fit inside the Pendel FD should have two large wheels in the rear and two small castor wheels in the front. The wheel size of the large wheels should be 24 or 26 inch.
  • Page 10 Should one of the mentioned information be missing when the Pendel FD is delivered, please contact your local Huka dealer for an additional document. When delivering the Pendel FD, your local authorized Huka dealer needs to adjust the following:  Height and distance and angle of the handlebars.
  • Page 11 - Check the horn of the Pendel FD Low tyre pressure can have a negative influence of the driving behavior of the Pendel FD. This can cause dangerous situations during driving. Check the tyre pressure every week. Worn out tires have a negative influence on the driving characteristic of the Pendel.
  • Page 12 The driver of the Pendel is responsible for a safe drive. Huka B.V. is not responsible for material or personal damage as a result of neglecting the rules mentioned above. Also damage to the Pendel as a result of neglecting the rules is not covered by the warranty.

  • Page 15 8.3 The wheels Pendel FD has three wheels, one in the front and two in the rear. The rims are aluminum casted, machined and powder coated. The tyres are with tubes and automotive valves.
  • Page 16 Programming done by unauthorized persons can lead to dangerous situations and is therefore strictly forbidden. Errors in the programming of the Pendel FD can lead to material damage to the Pendel or even personal damage to the user and/or persons who are close to the Pendel.
  • Page 17 The output stages are protected against overload and short circuit. The PCB is coated so that moisture and other fluids don’t have access to the electronics. This controller is also software driven. The programming is only done by HUKA BV. These parameters in this software cannot be changed.
  • Page 18 Huka BV or an authorised Huka dealer. Batteries are classified as chemical waist. For this reason changing and disposal of old batteries should only be done by personnel of an authorised Huka dealer. They know how to handle and dispose batteries according to the local regulations.
  • Page 19 8.7 The cockpit The main controls of the Pendel FD are situated on cockpit and the dashboard.   • Page 20 8.7.2 Throttle Accelerate: The throttle is used to set and adjust the driving speed of the Pendel FD. To accelerate, turn the handle towards yourself slowly. The Pendel will start to drive and accelerate. If the required speed is reached, hold the throttle in it s position to maintain this driving speed.

  • Page 22 Display light: This light is switched on if the lights of the Pendel are switched on. Left indicator light: This light will flash if the indicator left is activated. On/off control light: This light is on when the Pendel is switched on. Ride height indicator: This light is on if the Pendel is NOT in the right height to be driven.
  • Page 23 Reverse driving button: If this button is pushed the Pendel is set in to reverse driving mode. If in reverse driving mode, the red light on top of the button will light up.  Slow speed driving button: If this button is pushed the Pendel is set in to low speed driving mode. If in low speed driving mode, the red light on top of the button will light up.
  • Page 24 8.7.4 Brakes The Pendel has different brake systems. The motor brake: This braking system is controlled by the electronics of the Pendel FD. If you let go of the throttle, the motor brake will decelerate the Pendel automatically. Hydraulic brakes (C): The hydraulic brakes are activated by the brake lever on the rights side of the handlebar.
  • Page 25 8.7.5 Contact switch The contact switch is the main on/off switch of the Pendel FD. It is a key switch to prevent from unauthorized use of the Pendel. To switch the Pendel on, first put the key in to the keyhole of the contact switch. Now turn the key clockwise until the second click.
  • Page 26 8.7.7 Horn The horn is activated by pushing the yellow button (H) on the left hand grip. 8.7.8 Indicators The indicator is activated by pushing the indicator switch left or right. Push left to activate the left indicators, push to the right to activate the right indicators. To switch off the indicator push the little button (O) above the indicator switch.
  • Page 27 8.7.9 Emergency switch This switch is used to lift up the Pendel even if the Pendel is switched off. This way it is always possible to push the Pendel out of the danger zone in case of an emergency. 8.7.10 Safety switch driving blocked driving mode The safety switch is an additional safety feature.
  • Page 28 8.7.11 Release switch The release switch is used to lower the Pendel for transferring in and out of the Pendel. To lower the Pendel, push the lever down. You will hear air escape from the suspension and the Pendel will lower itself to the ground. Before lifting the Pendel, you must put the lever back to the top position.
  • Page 29 Some manuals wheelchairs have anti tipper wheels which might conflict with the ramps. Should that be the case, contact your Huka dealer. We can deliver special ramp to fit anti tipper wheels.
  • Page 30 9. Before using the Pendel FD Before you use the Pendel FD for the first time you must adjust some settings. 9.1 Adjusting the handle bar. The height of the handle bar: - 1. Release the bolt (A) with an Allan key size 6 mm until the handlebar can be moved.
  • Page 31 9.2 Adjusting the fixation points. Adjusting the height of the fixation points: - 1. Drive your wheelchair in to the Pendel - 2. Put the handbrakes on the wheelchair. - 3. Loosen the knob (C) so the fixation point can be moved. - 4.
  • Page 32 9.3 Adjusting the mirrors Before driving the Pendel make sure the mirrors are set correctly. The mirrors can be easily moved by hand into the right position. Hold the mirrors with your full hand and move them gently in to the required position. Make sure the mirrors are always set correctly before each drive.
  • Page 33 10. Driving the Pendel Getting in: - First lower the Pendel to the ground. The ramp will open up. - Switch of the contact key so the Pendel is switched off. - Now enter the Pendel with your manual wheelchair. - Put your manual wheelchair against the fixations points and put on its parking brakes.
  • Page 34 Putting the Pendel in Freewheel mode: The Pendel can be put into freewheel mode so the vehicle can be pushed or moved out of a certain area. Pendel with a manual parking brake: - make sure the Pendel is in its right driving height. - switch off the Pendel - release the manual;...
  • Page 35 When you drive the Pendel, always remind you: Always drive carefully. Use the slow speed setting in pedestrian area’s and shopping centers. Only drive on flat and solid surfaces. Avoid extreme bumpy roads and areas. Avoid soft sandy roads or beaches. Don’t drive through water.
  • Page 36 In this chapter we discuss the maintenance of the Pendel which can be executed by the user of an attendant person. Servicing the Pendel FD is to be executed by authorised personnel from an authorised Huka dealer. For these service purposes by the dealer there is a separate service manual and spare part catalogue available.

  • Page 38 The Pendel is secured with several fuses. These fuses protect the electronics against short circuit and overload. If a fuse is blown, you should contact your authorized huka dealer immediately. He first has to check why the fuse has blown, before replacing the broken fuse.

  • Page 40 The functionality of the brakes should be tested before every drive. If one of the brakes should not work properly, please contact your authorized huka dealer to have it checked. Do not use the Pendel if the brakes are not working properly.
