You have to connect a computer to on the console port of the StreamGroomer with the DB9 asynchronous cable (and the additional DB9 to USB adapter cable). The asynchronous cable is provided with the SG3412. The asynchronous cable has a RJ45 connector and a DB9 connector. -

If the main SG fails, the secondary becomes active and continues operating on the network. To implement high availability with the SG3412, two appliances SG3412 must be installed on the network. The figure below shows that the appliances are connected with the EXT interface. Use crossover cables between the 2 SG. -
