    2. Introduction LiPod 3D laser scanner is ground-station LiDAR 3D scanning system with the function of collecting high-precision point cloud and panoramic images. It can automatically calculate and obtain high-precision true color point cloud data in real time. It can also obtain highly-precise georeferenced point cloud data. It can be widely used in indoor and outdoor integrated measurement, underground space information acquisition, tunnel engineering, factory digitalization, mine digitalization, forestry resource surveying, BIM and other fields.

    4. Workflow Please follow this guide to ensure the proper functioning of the device. 4.1 Preparation for Data Acquisition 4.1.1 Set up the equipment 1.Set up tripod: turn the locking clamp of the tripod clockwise to extend each carbon fiber leg, and then lock each clamp by screwing counter- clockwise.

  • Page 10 LEMO Connection 4.1.2 Set Target Spheres If the acquisition environments are lacking for distinctive features or are not obvious, it would be necessary to place target spheres before collecting data to ensure multi-platform data stitching. Note: At least 3 target spheres shall be placed between two adjacent stations. Do not place them on the same line, and avoid obstacles between the scanner and the target sphere.

  • Page 14 Recording Stopping It is normal that 94% of the state of the data record will last 40s to 1min. The point cloud is being colored by the device. Data acquisition with the button, the light will flash when capturing data and the light will display steady on when the acquisition is complete.

    Open the “share” folder(s) and find the corresponding true-color point cloud data “*.e57” file in accordance with the acquisition date and time. Copy the share folder(s) from Lipod’s internal storage to a target directory located on the connected computer. “*.e57” file is named as the time of data acquisition -data acquisition mode(slow/fast). The data changed is the end time of data acquisition.

    What should I do if I cannot find the LiPod connection after powering on the system? In general, in 1 minute after powering on the LiPod system, a Wi-Fi connection called ‘LiPod’ should be available. If not, try refreshing your phone or tablet.
  • Page 23 Why: When the device is turned on/restarted, the interface prompts "Server Failure" after the first connection? The default IP address is 192.168.12.1:8090/#/LiPod. You are advised to delete LiPod from the IP address and enter the IP address again, that is, 192.168.12.1:8090.
