    T58 Technical 1. General Description 1.1 Overview The T58 Ethernet Option is a small circuit board that is installed inside the MX800 transceiver to allow diagnostic data from the MX800 and remote control function of the radio to be sent over a UTP Ethernet link. Unlike the previous T34 option it replaces, T58 also supports both normal serial communication from application such as MXTOOLS3 to the radio through its serial port and Ethernet communication simultaneously.

    Technical Manual 1.2 T58 External Connections 1.2.1 Ethernet Connector The ethernet connector when the T58 is installed inside the MX800 is located at the bottom left hand side of the MX800 rear panel.     T58 Technical Manual 2. Installation The T58 board is installed in the place of CN4 on the rear panel of the MX800. It is mounted by the three standoffs present on the chassis of the MX800. Because it uses these standoffs for mounting, the T58 board cannot be installed when the T04/05 or similar options are installed.

    Technical Manual 3. Setup The T58 option board has a number of parameters that need to be set for normal operation. These parameters are set using the T58Programmer application. 3.1 Connection The T58’s serial port must be connected to a PC serial port using the cross over (null modem) serial cable.

    T58 Technical Manual 3.4 T58Programmer After you have successfully installed T58Programmer, start the application from the Start menu. From this screen you can access and set the various operating parameters of the T58 Option board. 3.4.1 IP Address The T58 comes factory programmed to 192.168.1.254 This IP must be changed to the desired IP address before connection to a network.

    Technical Manual 3.4.3 Net Mask The net mask can be set to match the subnet of the connected network. Please refer to your network administrator for more information. 3.4.4 Passwords When using the MXTOOLS Remote Diagnostic (MXTOOLSRD) software to connect to the T58, passwords can be set so that only authorised users can access the diagnostic information.

    T58 Technical Manual 3.4.9 SMTP server (Email Config) The IP address of the email/SMTP server. SMTP server routes SMTP messages throughout the Internet to e-mail servers that provide message repositories for incoming mail. 3.4.10 Resolve IP/Hostname button T58 will try to connect to the DNS server in order to resolve the IP address or Hostname of the SMTP server specified in the text box control.

Operation 4.1 Remote Diagnostics Remote Diagnostics function of the T58 can be utilized through MXTOOLSRD application or web server diagnostics using web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc. 4.2 Remote Control The Remote Control functions can only be done through MXTOOLSRD application.

    Technical Manual 5.6 SMTP Authentication It is an extension of the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol whereby an SMTP client may log in, using an authentication mechanism chosen among those supported by the SMTP server. The Authentication mechanism supported in T58 is ‘AUTH LOGIN’. Note that T58 does not support SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol.
