2. Installation

This chapter explains how to install the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card hard-
ware, drivers, and utilities. Although desktop PCs may have a PCMCIA
slot, this manual will concentrate on Notebook PCs. The product is de-
signed to operate in Windows Me, 2000, and XP. Examples in this manual
will be that of Windows ME.
Complete the following steps to install the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card.
1. Install the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card.
2. Install the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card Driver
3. Install the TCP/IP protocol.
4. Install the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card Utilities

2.1 Installing Drivers for Windows

1. Turn ON your computer and enter Windows.
2. Insert the ASUS SpaceLink PC Card into a PCMCIA Type II slot with
the connector side first. The "LNK" and "AIR" LEDs represent the top
side and the "MAC" address sticker represents the bottom side. Push
the PC Card into the slot until it is firmly seated.

CAUTION: Make sure that you carefully align the ASUS SpaceLink
PC Card into the PC Card socket. Forcing a misaligned PC Card
will damage the PC Card or the computer.
