    Welcome Thank you for choosing one of our Miracle-Ear ® hearing aid accessories. This guide, along with support from your Hearing Care Professional, will help you understand the advantages and greater quality of life this accessory offers. CAUTION It is important to read this user manual thoroughly and completely.

  • Page 5: Your Cros Transmitter

    Your CROS transmitter CROS solutions are designed for people with profound hearing loss in one ear which can not be aided with a hearing aid. A CROS transmitter worn on this ear captures sound from this side and transmits it to the hearing aid on the other ear.
  • Page 6 Two solutions are available: ■ CROS solution: For people with normal hearing in one ear and profound hearing loss in the other. Sounds from the side with hearing loss are captured and transmitted wirelessly to the good-hearing side. ■ BiCROS solution: For people with profound hearing loss in one ear and less severe hearing loss in the other.

    Controls Your CROS transmitter has no controls. If you want to adjust the volume or switch hearing programs manually, you can ask your Hearing Care Professional about a remote control option. Hearing programs Read more in section “Changing the hearing program”. Signal tones Signal tones of the CROS transmitter - like a low battery beep - are sent to the hearing aid.

    Daily use Inserting and removing the transmitter Your hearing aids have been fine-tuned for your right and left ear. Colored markers indicate the side: ■ red marker = right ear ■ blue marker = left ear Inserting the device: For Sleeves, take care that the bend of the Sleeve is in line with the bend of the receiver cable.
  • Page 10 Hold the receiver cable at the bend closer to the ear piece. Carefully push the ear piece in ➊ the ear canal ➋ Twist it slightly until it sits well. Open and close your mouth to avoid accumulation of air in the ear canal.
  • Page 11 The optional retention strand helps to securely retain the ear piece in your ear. To position the retention strand: Bend the retention strand and position it carefully into the bottom of the bowl of your ear (refer to the picture). Removing a device: ➊...

    Turning on and off You have the following options to turn your device on or off. Via charger: Turning on: Take the device out of the charger. The startup melody is played in your hearing aid. The default volume and hearing program are set. Turning off: Place the device in the charger.

    Switching to standby mode Via remote control or smartphone app, you can switch your device to standby mode. This mutes the device. When you leave standby mode, the previously used volume and hearing program are set. Note: ■ In standby mode, the device is not turned off completely.

    Changing the hearing program Depending on the listening situation, your device automatically adjust their sound. Your device may also have several hearing programs which allow you to change the sound, if needed. An optional signal tone can indicate the program change.     Charging For your CROS transmitter, you have the choice ➊ between MECHARGE iRIC AX Charger ™ ➋ MECHARGE Dry & Clean Charger ™ ➊ ➋ To charge your transmitter, place it in the charger. Follow the instructions in the charger’s user manual. You can also find useful tips for charging in the charger’s user manual.

    Maintenance and care To prevent damage it is important that you take care of your device and follow a few basic rules, which will soon become a part of your daily routine. Transmitter Cleaning Your device has protective coating. However, if not cleaned regularly you may damage the device or cause personal injury.
  • Page 17 Drying You can use conventional products to dry your device or the optional MECHARGE Dry & Clean Charger. ™ Ask your Hearing Care Professional for recommended drying products and for individual instructions on when to dry your device. Storage ■ Short-term storage (up to several days): Turn off your device by placing it in the powered charger.

    Deep-discharged batteries cannot be charged anymore and they have to be replaced. We recommend recharging more frequently than at intervals of 6 months. Observe the storage conditions in section “Operating, transport and storage conditions”. Ear pieces Cleaning Cerumen (ear wax) may accumulate on the ear pieces. This may affect sound quality.
  • Page 19 Exchanging Exchange standard ear pieces approximately every three months. Replace them sooner if you notice cracks or other changes. The procedure for exchanging standard ear pieces depends on the type of ear piece. In section “Components and names”, your Hearing Care Professional has marked your type of ear piece.

    Take particular care that the new Eartip or Sleeve covers the retention rings of the receiver fully. Check the firm fit of the new Eartip or Sleeve. Professional maintenance Your Hearing Care Professional can perform a thorough professional cleaning and maintenance. Custom-made ear pieces and wax filters should be exchanged as needed by your Hearing Care Professional.

    Further information Accessories You can use the smartphone app for convenient remote control of your device. The app also allows you to deactivate signal tones, to create individual sound profiles and many more functions. Consult your Hearing Care Professional for further information.

    Su transmisor CROS Las soluciones CROS se han diseñado para personas con una pérdida de audición profunda en un oído que no se puede mejorar con el uso de un audífono. El transmisor CROS colocado en ese oído captura el sonido de ese lado y lo transmite al audífono del otro oído.

    Deberá cargar el dispositivo cada seis meses a fin de evitar una descarga completa irrecuperable de la pila recargable de iones de litio.
