Description
The Greenlee TPIR-J and TPIR-K are noncontact surface temperature sensors intended for use
with a multimeter (purchased separately) capable of using Type J or K thermocouples to read
temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit. The non-intrusive measuring capability of this unit is
safer and quicker than other methods, and is well suited to checking the surface temperatue of
circuit breakers, motors, HVAC equipment, engines, etc. Both units are equipped with a mini
TC (thermocouple) connector. If the multimeter does not accept the mini TC connector, use an
appropriate adapter (purchased separately).
The unit measures surface temperature by gathering three forms of infrared energy —
emitted, transmitted, and reflected energy — from an object and translating that energy into a
temperature.
