  • Page 3 INTRODUCTION READ INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION It is the responsibility of the installer to meet all code and safety requirements, and to obtain all required building permits. The fencing installer should determine and implement appropriate installation techniques for each installation situation. Fortress Building Products and its distributors shall not be held liable for improper or unsafe installations.

  • Page 5 THROUGH BOLT SLIDE LATCH INSTALLATION Step 1: Assemble Handle to Slide Latch 1. Assemble The Slide Latch Handle to Slide Latch with supplied 10mm Bolt and Flat Washer. As shown in Fig. 1. Use of a thread locker is recommended. Fig. 1 Padlock Hole Slide Latch Flat Washer Handle 10mm Bolt Slide Latch Step 2: Mark Bolt Hole Locations on Gate Uprights 1. Determine the desired placement of the Through Bolt Slide Latch on the gate uprights. 2. Position the Slide Latch Assembly onto the gate upright then use C-Clamps to temporarily hold the latch in place. As shown in Fig. 2. 3. Position the Single Swing Receiver onto the opposite gate upright or post. Use a Speed Square to align the top faces of the receiver and latch. This will allow the slide latch to be easily inserted and removed into the receiver.

Use a Spring Punch to mark the center of the bolt holes. 2. Using a 7/16” [11mm] Drill Bit, drill completely through both gate uprights along the bolt hole marks (4 places). As shown in Fig. 6. 3. Remove all metal shavings from gate uprights before the Slide Latch Assembly and Single Swing Receiver are screwed onto the gate uprights to prevent corrosion. 4. Using a piece of cardboard as a mask. Apply the 2 coats of Fortress Zinc Based Touch-Up Paint. As shown in Fig. 7.
  • Page 7 Step 4: Mount Slide Latch Assembly & Single Swing Receiver onto Gate Uprights 1. Position the Slide Latch Assembly and Single Swing Receiver on gate uprights over the pre-drilled bolt holes. 2. Confirm hole locations are correct and align with bolt hole on the latch and receiver. Adjust if required. 3. Insert bolts and washers through bolt holes, then fasten nuts using a 9/16” [14mm] Wrench or Socket. As shown in Fig. 8 & 9. 4. If required, cut exposed bolt ends flush with outside face of nuts using a hacksaw. As shown in Fig. 10. 5. File any sharp edges. 6. Apply 2 coats of Fortress Zinc Based Touch-Up Paint to cut bolt ends. As shown in Fig. 11. Allow to dry before applying second coat.     CARE & MAINTENANCE Care And Maintenance Of Fortress Building Products Powder-Coated Products And Surfaces: • Immediately after installation of your Fortress Building Products, clean powder-coated products and surfaces with a solution of warm water and non-abrasive, pH neutral detergent solution. Surfaces should be thoroughly rinsed after cleaning to remove all residues. All surfaces should be cleaned using a soft cloth or sponge. • Ensure construction materials such as concrete, plaster, and paint splashes are removed immediately before they have a chance to dry. Failure to remove these materials may cause damage to the powder-coated surfaces. • The frequency of cleaning depends in part on the standard of appearance and also the requirements to remove deposits that may cause damage to the powder coating after prolonged exposure. Fortress recommends cleaning in three to four monthly intervals. • WARNING: Do not use strong solvents such as thinners, or solutions containing chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, or ketones.
