  • Page 2 1) Disassemble your Freedom Chair. If you installed any accessories, please remove them from your chair. 2) Use an Allen key to loosen the headset (the pieces that secure the front fork to the boom of the chair). Remove the headset bolt. Slide the fork out of the boom of the chair.
  • Page 3 Hand-holes Cardboard bottom pad 3) Place the cardboard bottom pad into the large box. Place this piece on the end of the box farthest from the hand-holes.
  • Page 4 Cardboard bottom 4) Place the folding cardboard insert on top of the bottom pad. 5) Place your footplate in the box as shown above. Put the small footplate clamp—the clamp that held the footplate onto the chair when it was fully assembled—aside for now (you’ll reattach it in a later step).
  • Page 5 6) Place the chair frame and seat on top of the folding cardboard insert. The boom of the chair should point toward the end of the box with the hand- holes. Then, push the footplate receiver tube through the hole in the folding cardboard insert.
  • Page 6 8) Fold and place the first triangular insert over the footplate, as shown above. At the bottom of the folded insert, there are slots into which the footplate can slide. 9) Fold and place the second triangular insert on the other side of the Freedom Chair boom, as shown above.
  • Page 7 10) Wrap your front wheel and fork in paper dunnage. Leave the fork and front wheel connected. If you don’t have the original paper dunnage, feel free to use your own. 11) Insert the stem/tube of the wrapped-up front fork into the second triangular insert.
  • Page 8 12) Feed a zip-tie through the first triangular insert, under the boom, through the second triangular insert, and back. This zip-tie helps prevent the chair from moving around in the box. Add paper or foam dunnage in front of the boom.
  • Page 9 13) Insert the cardboard tube into the seatpan. 14) Place your cushion onto the seat, over the cardboard tube. Match the Velcro on the cushion to the Velcro on the seatpan.
  • Page 10 15) Secure the rear-wheel axles to the levers with rubber bands. Use two rubber bands per axle to make sure they stay secure during return shipping. 16) Slide your levers and axles into the plastic sleeves. Then, slide one plastic sleeve into each side of the lever-holding cardboard insert.
  • Page 11 17) Place the lever-holding cardboard insert across the seat cushion, as shown above. 18) Place the seatback over and perpendicular to the boom of the chair, placing the backrest pad into the cutout of the folded cardboard insert. If you have other accessories, slide them into the open areas in the box, like the Trail Handles protected by bubble wrap shown above.
  • Page 12 19) Place the lid onto the box. 20) Secure the three straps to the Freedom Chair box. Cover or remove any old shipping labels and place the return shipping label onto the box.
