QUICK START GUIDE 1. After receiving the DAC, please do not rush to power it up. First, check the physical appearance of any damage may be caused by shipping. 2. Plug in the power cord firmly and turn on the rear power switch. 3. The DAC shall turn on. The display shall turn on. 4. Connects digital input from the sources (SPDIF/USB/I2S/OPT) to the DAC. 5. Connects RCA or XLR output from the DAC to the amplifier 6. Choose the correct input by pressing the INPUT button, play some music TIPS 1. The DAC will work at its best quality after an hour of warming up. 2. Power On / Off Turn on/off the power switch at the rear panel to turn on/off the unit. It is safe to leave the power switch on 24/7 3. When not in use for a long period of time, it is recommended to switch off the main power switch to save the earth. 4. CONNECTIONS The connections of power cord, interconnect cables are located at the rear panel of the DAC. For both safety and performance, please use quality cable from reputable suppliers. i.e. Studio Grade cable, namely, Gotham / Sommercable / Mogami / Belden, etc. 1 4 3 2 Figure 1. DAC2 Rear Panel (1) AC MAINS POWER SWITCH Switch On/Off the unit by using the power switch. 0 denotes Off, 1 denotes On. (2) AC MAINS POWER IEC SOCKET The AC Mains is fitted with a mains fuse, rated at 1.6A, 5x20mm, Slow Blow. Replace the fuse should the fuse blown with the spare fuse provided, or with the identical fuse rating. Frequent fuse blown is considered a fault. Please contact us to investigate the issue further. (6) XFEED Select the Crossfeed mode for Headphones application. The Crossfeed function is used to make the stereo image smaller, to make it sound more like the stereo image from speakers. “XFEED” LED color shows the current crossfeed mode selected for the headphones Off Crossfeed circuit disabled Green Small Crossfeed, ‐12 dB sent to other channel Orange Medium Crossfeed, ‐8 dB sent to other channel Red Large Crossfeed, ‐5 dB sent to other channel (7) Volume Knob The volume LED display indicates current volume, from ‐90 dB to +10 dB. The volume knob is using a digital encoder to set the volume level digitally from ‐90 dB to +10 dB in precise 1 dB steps. If you connect the Line Out to a system with a volume knob you might want to set the dac2541 Line Out volume startup level to a fixed 0 dB, you can do that by selecting Line Out, turning the volume up to ‐4 or higher, then store the startup setting by pressing and holding the “FILTER” button for 4 seconds.
