Always keep your work area clear.
Ensure that bystanders especially children are kept at a safe distance from
the working area.
Use personal protection equipment; wear eye protection a dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat and hearing protection if appropriate
conditions, this will reduce the possibility of personal injuries.
Never wear loose clothing, shorts or jewellery whilst using the tools and
wear closed-in solid shoes with a good grip, always ensure long hair is tied
back.
Never use the tool whilst standing on a ladder.
Do not overreach. Always keep a firm footing and maintain your balance
during operation, always distribute the weight evenly on your body and
reduce the possibility of strain.
Do not use this tool in rain or wet conditions that could make the working
area slippery.
Avoid using this tool close to any power lines and keep a safe working
distance from overhead power cables.
Do not stand underneath branches or hedges that you are cutting as
sections may fall without warning.
Work at an angle of no more than 60°, especially where heavy branches
are being removed.
Keep a diligent eye on what you are cutting and, on the ground, where
you are moving around to prevent tripping over material you have
removed.
Take regular breaks and clear all debris before recommencing.
Do not use the tools where flammable materials such as gases and liquids
are present, or in dry dusty environments, the operation of the tools create
sparks which ignite these elements.
Do not use the tool if the switch fails to turn it on and off. Any machine that
cannot be controlled with its switch is potentially dangerous and must be
checked by a qualified electrician and repaired if necessary.
Store idle power tools out of reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power
tool.
Ensure that the switch is in the off position before connecting to the power
source and or battery pack.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on.
Maintain the tools by checking for misalignment or binding of moving
parts. Also check for any damage to all parts of the tool including hedge
trimmer blade.
Keep the hedge trimmer cutting surfaces clean and sharp.
Keep the blades suitably lubricated to allow free movement. Failure to
lubricate could cause damage to the blades, gearing and/or motor.
Have your tool serviced regularly by a qualified specialist.
Do not use power tools while you are tired or under the influence of
alcohol or drugs.
