INSTALLATION, OPERATING & SERVICING INSTRUCTIONS
All fire extinguishers should be installed, inspected, and maintained in accordance with the National
Fire Protection Association standard titled "Portable Fire Extinguishers", NFPA-10 and the
requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
When installation, inspection or maintenance is required, it should be performed by certified trained
persons having proper equipment. Fire extinguishers are pressure vessels and must be treated with
respect and handled with care. They are mechanical devices and require periodic maintenance to be
sure that they are ready to operate properly and safely.
Victory strongly recommends that the maintenance of portable fire extinguishers be done by a trained
professional – your local authorized Victory Distributor.
Victory Corporation makes original factory parts available to ensure proper maintenance – USE OF
SUBSTITUTE PARTS RELEASES VICTORY OF ITS WARRANTY OBLIGATIONS. Victory
parts have machined surfaces and threads that are manufactured to exacting tolerances.
O-rings,
hoses, horns, nozzles, and all metal parts meet precise specifications and are subjected to multiple
in-house inspections and tests for acceptability. Only spare parts listed in appendix A should be used.
DO NOT SUBSTITUTE.
Marine approval is valid only when the extinguisher is equipped with an approved marine type
of bracket.

    INSTALLATION Your layout and particular hazards dictate the placement of fire extinguishers. NFPA-10 requires that hand portable extinguishers with a gross weight less than 40 lbs. be hung with the top of the extinguisher not more than 5 ft. (1.53 m) above the floor. Extinguishers having a gross weight greater than 40 lbs.
  • Page 4 HOW TO USE WARNING Carbon dioxide extinguishes fire by diluting the surrounding atmosphere with inert gas keeping the oxygen level below the percentage required for combustion. When it is used in an unventilated space, such as a small room, closet or other confined area, prolonged occupancy of that space can result in loss of consciousness and possible death due to oxygen deficiency.
  • Page 5 AFTER USE INSTRUCTIONS NOTE Fire extinguishers should always be recharged immediately after any use. Invert extinguisher, then while securing and pointing the horn in a safe direction, squeeze the operating lever valve to clear hose/horn and release all remaining pressure from the extinguisher.

    PERIODIC INSPECTION PROCEDURES (Monthly or more often if circumstances dictate) [NFPA-10] Periodic inspection of fire extinguishers shall include a check of at least the following items: Location in designated place. Visibility of extinguisher or means of indicating the extinguisher location Fullness determined by weighing or hefting.
  • Page 7 Inspect the extinguisher for damaged, missing or substitute parts. Only factory replacement parts are approved for use on Victory fire extinguishers. Weigh the extinguisher and compare with weight printed in the "Maintenance" section on the nameplate (label). Recharge extinguisher if weight is not within indicated allowable tolerances. Any extinguisher not falling within the tolerance limits shall be properly recharged.
  • Page 8 COMPLETE MAINTENANCE – FIVE YEAR TEARDOWN / HYDROTEST [NFPA-10] Every five years, carbon dioxide extinguishers require a five-year hydrostatic test shall be emptied and subjected to the applicable maintenance procedures. When the applicable maintenance procedures are performed during periodic recharging or hydrostatic testing, the five-year requirement shall begin from that date.

    10. Inspect the 10, 15 & 20 lb. elbow for blockage or damage. The Victory 5 lb. CO diffuser is built into the swivel tube. Check elbow and swivel tube for blockage or damage. Replace damaged parts with Victory replacement parts only. RECHARGE WARNING a.

    11. Install tamper seal wrapping through loop and around levers to secure ring pin. Do not over stress tamper seal. Record recharge date and attach new recharge tag. 12. Install horn or hose assembly. Ensure firmly tightened and for hose assembly place hose inside loop on the strap.
