  • Page 3 THE SUN & SOLAR POWER: The intensity of the sun’s radiation changes with the hours of the day, time of the year and weather condi- tions. The most productive hours of sunlight are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. In most locations in the United States winter produces the least sunlight because of shorter days and increased cloud cover, as well as the sun’s lower position in the sky.
  • Page 4 MODULE TILT ANGLE: Solar panels produce the most power when they are pointed directly at the sun. For installations where the solar panel is mounted to a permanent structure, the solar panel should be tilted for optimum winter per- formance. As a rule, if the solar panel power is adequate in the winter, it will be satisfactory during the rest of the year.

SITE SELECTION Locate a position on a pedestal, wall, wood pole, or conduit where the solar cell will face Solar South (in Northern Hemisphere) and will be high enough to deter vandalism.
