The Cuisinart COH-500 may not stay lit when the knob is held for 30 seconds if a new tank has just been connected and air is still in the gas line. In this case, allow at least one minute for the air to clear before lighting.

The Cuisinart COH-500 heater may not stay lit when the knob is released because the burner has not been held in for 30 seconds after lighting. Holding the control knob in for 30 seconds allows the thermocouple to heat up and keep the gas valve open. If the burner is not held long enough, the safety mechanism shuts off the gas, causing the flame to go out.
