C I N E B R A T E User Manual USB 1.1 C ONNECTOR The CINEBRATE is equipped with a Mini-B USB connector, providing remote communication. Figure 5 - Mini-B USB connector. OWER ONNECTOR The CINEBRATE power (AC Adapter) supply connector. The unit can also be powered using the standard Li-Ion battery pack.
C I N E B R A T E User Manual ATTERY The CINEBRATE is powered by a high capacity rechargeable Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack. The battery compartment of the instrument is located at the front of the instrument to the left of the objective lens. The battery can be charged in the instrument (using the AC Adapterr) or via the optional external battery charger.
C I N E B R A T E User Manual NSERTING THE ATTERY 1. Facing the front of the instrument, slide the battery door latch away from the objective lens until the door opens (See Figure 7). 2. Orient the battery so that the two copper contacts face toward the objective lens, and toward the rear of the instrument.
C I N E B R A T E User Manual HARGING THE ATTERY Note: Fully charge the battery before the initial use. 1. The CINEBRATE battery will charge whenever the AC Adapter is connected to the instrument. 2. If you purchased the optional External Charger, the time for a full charge is 10 - 12. To use the charger: a.

C I N E B R A T E User Manual FIGURE 12 - CINEBRATE RESULT SCREEN HEORY OF PERATION The CINEBRATE is a true Spectroradiometer. It collects the optical radiation (light) through the objective lens. The signal then passes to the diffraction grating (see Figure 15). The grating breaks up the light into its component wavelengths much like a prism turns white light into a rainbow.
Page 19
C I N E B R A T E User Manual During a measurement, the optical radiation (light) is sampled for a period of time determined by the Adaptive Sensitivity™ algorithm. Adaptive Sensitivity automatically determines the correct integration (exposure) time based on the available signal.
Page 20
C I N E B R A T E User Manual Calculations The corrected spectral data is then used to calculate photometric and colorimetric values including luminance, CIE 1931 x, y chromaticity coordinates, and correlated color temperature (CCT). FIGURE 16 - CIE 1931 TRISTIMULUS FUNCTIONS CIE XYZ Tristimulus and Photometric Values Where X, Y, and Z are the three CIE Tristimulus values.
C I N E B R A T E User Manual Once the three Tristimulus values have been derived, CIE 1931 x, y can be calculated by the following formula: CIE 1931 x, y UMINANCE Luminance is defined as luminous flux (lumens) per solid angle (steradians) per unit area being emitted in a given direction and is calculated from Radiance (watts/steradian/meter²).
