Safe, efficient, trouble free operation of your Walkabout Mother Bin requires that anyone who will be operating or main- taining it, read and fully understand the manual. This is to ensure that the operator has the knowledge to understand;...

    It is required that anyone towing, operating or maintaining this bin read and understand this manual and the other manufactures manuals supplied with the bin. Walkabout Mother Bin owners must give operating instructions to operators or employees before allowing them to operate the Walkabout Mother Bin, and at least annually thereafter per OSHA regulation 1928.51.

    Keep hands, feet, hair and clothing away from all moving and/or rotating parts. Do not allow riders on the Walkabout Mother Bin or tractor during operation or transporting. 10. Do not operate machine on steep side hills or slopes.

    SAFETY 1.5 MAINTENANCE SAFETY Review the Operator’s Manual and all safety items before working with, maintaining or operating the Walkabout Mother Bin. Stop the tractor engine, set park brake, remove ignition key and wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing, adjusting, repairing or unplugging.

  • Page 22: Operation

    This operation is to be done stationary and it is to remain stationary until unloaded below 30%. NEVER tow the Bin loaded over 30% . If the Mother Bin is under 30% loaded it can be moved in the field on level ground at speeds of up to 2 MPH (3.6 KM/H).

  • Page 23: Pto And Hitch Settings

    Lubricate the machine per the schedule outlined in the “Maintenance Section” Use only a tractor with adequate power to pull the Walkabout Mother Bin under ordinary operating conditions. Minimum: 250 HP (188 KW) and 20,000 lb (9072 Kg) minimum vehicle weight.

    2.7 CONNECTING TO THE TRACTOR IMPORTANT The Walkabout Mother Bin should always be parked on a level, dry area that is free of debris and foreign objects. Follow this procedure to connect the bin to the tractor. Clear the area of bystanders and remove foreign objects from the machine and working area.

    Park the tow vehicle and bin on level ground as close to the equipment to be filled or emptied as safely as possible. Allow space around the Mother Bin for vehicles to enter and exit when filling the bin or being emptied.

    Flowing grain traps and suffocates victim in seconds! Victim can die in seconds in flowing grain! DANGER Exercise extreme caution while setting, loading or unloading the Walkabout Mother Bin. The following dangerous situations exist: Drowning, rotating driveline, rotating auger and crushing or pinching due to moving pivot auger. IMPORTANT The instructions below must be followed for safe loading of the Walkabout Mother Bin The Walkabout Mother Bin is designed to hold 4000 bushels of grain safely.

  • Page 32 IMPORTANT To avoid damage to the Walkabout Mother Bin and unloading auger, do not drive or transport with a fully loaded unloading auger. Always close flow control gate and allow auger to clean out if stopping auger during unloading.

    The Walkabout Mother Bin is designed for stationary in-field grain storage. • The Walkabout Mother Bin is NOT to be used to carry grain out of the field, on roads or through uneven terrain. • It is designed only to operate in-field and on even ground.
  • Page 38 ▪ Lower the auger (4) completely down. Be sure the PTO is OFF. For safety from accidental activation, remove the PTO from the tractor and the Mother Bin. The flow control gates (6) must be closed. The clean-out doors (7) must be closed.

  • Page 40: Steering Operation

    2.15 STEERING OPERATION The walkabout Mother Bin is equipped with steering on all axles. The front axles will automatically steer in the direction of the towing vehicle. The rear axles steering can be controlled from the cab of the tractor by using the hydraulic lever that controls the rear flow control gates.
  • Page 41 After applying and holding hydraulic pressure the front axles are now locked in position. This provides better control when backing. When finished positioning the Mother Bin remove the hose from the tractor. Install one end of the drain hose (6) provided in the overflow container as shown.

    If the tires need to be replaced the tire size is 425/65R 22.5 rated for 20,000 lbs. (9072 Kg). Clean the area around the valve stem .     Your machine can operate at top efficiency only if clean lubricants are used. Use clean containers to handle all lubricants. Sore them in an area protected from dust, moisture and other contaminants. GEARBOX LEVELS The gearbox level must be in the middle of the sight-glass (1).
